Okay, so I moved here from Seattle to get away from the City. I love it! Designs are great (I have a chic one bedroom plus den) and the amenities are as good as anywhere I looked. The only problem I have are the miserable, sour and at times hateful souls that inhabit this Island. I had heard about MIA (Mercer Island Attitude) before I moved here but shrugged it off. Maybe I'll get used to it. I mean, I see how they could have a right to be bitter; they live on an ISLAND a stone's throw from the hippest city in the States, they generally have lot's of money and have a public school system that is better than most private schools (nationally ranked in the top ten percent, actually). Hell, that's enough to get anyone down!
Outside of this--I wish I had made the move years ago. I don't fear crime (building is controlled access and it really isn't even necessary here). I love the people in my building, management is great, there are great spaces within the community (theatre has an amazing sound system), fitness center is tops and even has a SAUNA! There is supposed to be a hot tub--not sure if that will ever come together... The Noah's Bagels downstairs is great on Saturday morning and I'm a huge fan of the Emerald City Smoothies downstairs. QFC is across the street. I am yet to reserve the Residents' Club for a private event, but can't wait to have my friends meet here.
Okay, so the Island is provencial and dour... Fine. The summers here are great and I never thought I would find so many places to ride my bike. I am happy with Island Square.

Ha ha ha, sounds like someone who works in the office wrote this. Why would the restraunts and 'ammenities' be advertised so well? Have you actually seen our fitness center- it's horrible, they didn't even show me it when they showed me around! This place is a hell hole. There is no privacy in the theartre room and the family with like ten kids that live above me that never sleep keep me up all hours. I complain and nothing has been done. PS- I grew up on Mercer Island and highly resent the whole "MIA" thing- ridiculous!! I can't wait for my lease to end, I am soooooooooo out of here.
