Your opinion may change after they start billing you for charges you never incurred or when the car alarm/street sweeper/smoking neighbor next door refuses to let you sleep.

I thought Island Square was great when I first moved in, too. Now, as I sit here listening to the footsteps of my neighbor above me, I am having second thoughts. Reality sets in when you receive your first utility bill from NWP: $95-$115/month for my studio. Then, take into account the electricity, $45/month, and rent, $1,150/month, and you're in for a year of financial fun. The parking garage entrance is a joke (check out the yellow pillars at the entrance; I've seen countless drivers back up one or two times just to make it in) and the rates are moderate at around $75/month. When I lived in downtown Seattle, rent was not as expensive and my electricity and utility bills were $10/month and $30/month, respectively. Mercer Island is expensive, but this building's poor construction doesn't help justify it. All of the lighting is furnished by 75W halogen lighting throughout, the "wood" flooring is actually a sheet of vinyl, the bathroom shower is a cheap insert, and the carpet feels like cheap yarn. I'll let you figure out if paying an insane amount of money per month for cheap things feels good to you, but to me, Island Square makes me feel like I am living inside a pretty cardboard box.
