I wouldn't live again at Shorewood if you paid me! The new management (Riverstone) staff is incompetent, uncooperative, combative and passive aggressive (think Nurse Ratched). I subleased and the very first week I got a utility bill for $1,200! The previous tenant hadn't paid his bill and when I brought it to Shorewood's attention, they said it was my responsibility to pay the previous tenant's bill!!! Took three months to resolve the bill in my favor. They scraped the moss off the roof of my building and clogged the gutters such that when it rains, the entrance is like going under Niagara Falls. I complained and they never fixed the problem. They don't respond to letters either. They put in new landscaping (cheap and ordinary) but never watered, so most plants died and they were never removed. When the lease came up for renewal, they miscalculated the new rate, i.e., they can't add and said no it wasn't a math mistake, it was the market rate! I went month to month and they stuck it to me for an additional $200 a month plus a rent increase. When I moved out they billed me for their math mistake. They paid my final utility bill and never told me. Thus, I paid the same bill. They charged me for the utility bill they paid and sent it out to a collection agency without ever telling me. It took me four months to get back my overpayment. My utility bills were outrageous - some neighbors like to keep all their windows open in the middle of winter, everyone pays to heat common areas and your bill is based on apartment size, not your usage. That is, there is one meter and the bill is divided among tenants based on square footage. For the price I paid, I didn't even have a garage. I'm now in Bellevue paying less than half what I paid at Shorewood. I have indoor parking, elevator, a swimming pool, a sound-proof building, a $20/month utility bill and a friendly staff at the leasing office that responds immediately to anything that needs attention/fixing. Lastly, my Shorewood neighbors liked to drink, smoke and party to all hours of the morning - indoors and outdoors. There is no sound proofing between apartments. My adjacent neighbor's unsecured headboard pounded against my bedroom wall all night every time he turned in bed keeping me awake. I complained to him and to Shorewood management. They did nothing. I am so happy I finally got off my butt, got a new apartment and moved out of Shorewood!

Park Highland, Bellevue. Corner apartment with balcony overlooking Wilburton Park. $800/mo. vs. ~$1600 @ Shorewood. Quiet, friendly.
