mold/mildew problem - lost $864--don't sign papers!

I never moved furniture in. From Day 1, I expressed that the bad smell needed to be taken care of. Unfortunately, I signed papers before seeing the apartment (their protocol). They tried to charge me $2,000 for never living there and then, made me feel like I was getting a good deal by "only" charging me $864. My neighbor lived there and had the same experience--lost money, and had to throw her sofa out because of mold/mildew. This is an unjust situation and the owner needs to be brought to justice.
