Not worth the money

I would like to know how much credit off the rent they are giving the tenants since all of a sudden, everyone is recommending Parkwood. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It's overpriced and outdated. If you renew your lease, be prepared for a shock since it will be much more than you were paying plus they barely give you the 30 days notice so you don't have much time to find something else. I did not find management friendly at all but maintenance was fairly quick. Your money is best spent elsewhere.

Dear resident,
I wanted to take the time to address your concerns above. You are correct that in 2007 we were in the position to increase our rents as were all apartment communities due to the market and the economy. That is not true currently as our economy and market has changed drastically in the last year. We typically have been renewing residents without increase and have been offering incentives as well as we understand the current economy conditions. We have been practicing a 60 to 90 day renewal program where residents would receive notification at that time in regards to renewal options. We are continuing to do this and do apologize if we did not give you the same service. I can't give you an explanation as to why you did not receive ample notice in regards to your lease only that we have had times where as humans we enter information into the system in error and has caused us to miss on occasion a resident that should receive a renewal letter. In addition I would also like to address the friendliness of the staff. I again apologize if you feel that you are not receive friendly customer service as we pride ourselves in taking the time to say hi to everyone who comes in the office. We do love our residents here and would like to see about knowing how we can serve you better. Again please feel free to call or come by the office so we can hopefully make you a happy resident here at Parkwood.

I don't live there anymore and at the time I did, I did not know of anyone that got a 60-90 day notice and your rent increased significantly each year for several years in a row. At that time the rental market was tight and you could do whatever you wanted. I still would not recommend Parkwood and from the responses and other residents I knew at the time, no one perceived the office staff as friendly. You need to put all that money you are collecting in rents and put it into updating the apartments.

I received my renewal notice 90 days before expiration. However - in the renewal it basically said if I signed now, I'd get a $400 discount off the first month and no rent increase. If I didn't want to renew yet, my rent would go up. Additionally, if I didn't want to sign and go month to month, the rent would go from $1199 to $1475 PLUS a $250 'service fee'. Extortion?
