Worst Apartment Complex I have ever lived in

Don't rent here!!!! You will be very sorry if you do. We are a middle aged couple who moved here from Irvine, CA. We lived here for 1 1/2 years - the worst 1 1/2 years of our lives. There is no rent control so our apartment rent went up hundreds of dollars/mo from the time we moved in to the time we moved out. By the time we moved out we were paying more for our 2 bedroom apartment than neighbors who had 3 bedroom apartments. The place is dirty and smelly and management do not respond to repair requests or safety issues. Management really is worthless. As a result, we were without fire alarm protection and a broken washing machine for months (we had to do our laundry at the laundramat). Also some units do not have air conditioners and as a result you will swelter during the hot summer months. Also there are no nonsmoking apartments and our apartment regularly filled with smoke from smokers and barbeques in adjoining apartments. Also the walls and floors of these apartments appear to be paper thin and have no insulation because we heard everything each time adjacent apartment dwellers played music, TV, walked around their apartment, urinated, took a bath, and had sex. The apartments are mold infested and my husband and I were regulars at the local clinic with mysterious allergic reactions and respiratory ailments that we never had prior to move in and since our move out. The apartments are also unsafe with home invasion robberies and fires occurring at the apartments. Your living experience here will be filled with the sound of constant sirens, gun shots (I spent several nights sleeping in my closet because I could hear the gun shots hitting the side of the building next to my bedroom window), firecrackers going off at all times of the year, screaming fighting people, drunk and disorderly delinquents prowling the walking trails drug dealing, killing and mutilating the wildlife and leaving broken beer bottles strewn along the trails and graffiti on the picnic tables. Mill Creek and Lynwood have an alarming crime rate with several murders taking place while we lived there and several ex-cons/parolees living nearby. Parking is inadequate and I have seen the people hired by the apartment to pick up trash run into a resident's parked car and just keep on going. Also beware of the apartment management's and Equity Residential Corporate's unethical dishonest bookkeeping practices and threats to ruin your credit if you challenge them on it. I talked to residents that hated living there so much that they took a loss on their rent because it was worth it to them to terminate their lease prematurely and get out.

You may search for my review in 07 under Snow20 and see I am hardly management. You may also not lie about what are the facts as they do not offer apartments that are 2 bedrooms month to month for $2200. Call anytime and ask for the rates and it isn't even close to that high. You can also stop "playing the out of town victim." You could have gone next door after your lease was up and lived month to month for less then $1500 and a tiny move at that! You knew that area right? Legally they aren't allowed to let you live without a washer and dryer for months, it's in your lease that repairs have a small ETA of less than a week so again you lied. I understand you were frustrated with them as I was for different reasons but your rediculous statements discredit your review. Living in the area for a year more than gives you time to get out of a horrific crime filled situation and you staying shows it wasn't that bad. I stayed only for a few months as my place was also being built and no place is crime free but this is about as good as you get around here. Go live in north everett, tacoma, kent and get back to me about crime as you are so new. Your comments are laughable and mean nothing to future renters as we all know Mill Creek is anything but awful. You couldn't afford to break your lease but you went month to month which means you weren't in a lease for 6 months! You stayed by choice which would have saved you money to leave as rents month to month at local places are way cheaper than you say you paid. So you were trying to save money by not moving after your lease right? They must have strong armed you at that scary place.

I don't live at the Reserve, but I do live nearby in another Equity community (one that is much cheaper than and not as nice as the Reserve, and I've had very few problems). I have to admit, I was kinda surprised by your comments about Mill Creek. Maybe you got Mill Creek confused with another town??? Because seriously, it's about as safe as it gets. I'm a long-distance runner and I've spent plenty of time on the trails and sidewalks through town and haven't ever come across anything I would consider troubling. I'll let you have the siren thing, because I also live along the Bothell-Everett Highway, and there are a lot of sirens. But not for anything involving gunshots! I've been here a year and nobody has ever been shot around here since I've been here, nor have I ever heard any gunfire.
Oh, and as for some of the apartments not having air conditioning, so what? The vast majority of houses and apartments in the Seattle area don't have air conditioning. Yeah, you'll sweat for the very few days that it gets hot, but come on, you definitely don't need air conditioning for roughly 360 days out of the year.

My Response To Snow20: I still think you are management. The way you write sounds like those inane girls that work at the Reserve. I continue to question your motivation for defending a place that you claim to only have lived in for 2 months. Living in a place for only 2 months does not qualify you as an expert on that place. I assure readers that my month to month rent for a 2 bedroom apartment when we finally left was indeed $2200.00 a month (a $500 increase from the initial lease) and have the contract, receipts and cancelled checks to prove it. And yes I know it is illegal to go without a washer for the length of period we went without it. It is also illegal to not respond to requests to repair fire alarms. That did not stop the Reserve from indulging in both of these illegal practices in our case. That is my point you moron. You simply look ridiculous for trying so hard to discredit me. As to your assertions that we could have moved next door any time. I guess you don't own much and like to move around a lot. We own quite a lot and don't like to move around a lot, therefore we needed to make sure the next move we made was not only close to where our house was being built (which was NOT in Mill Creek) but also that we didn't end up living in the same type of unsavory living situation. And I guess you must have a lot of time on your hands to keep writing reviews (you really should get a life) to try to discredit me, so moving is not a big issue for you. That was not the case for us. By the way, the next time you write a review you might try using a dictionary for the "big" words. For example, the word "ridiculous" is not spelled rediculous.
My response to UnusualSuspect: Another loyal Equity resident? How timely. No I am not confused and no Mill Creek is not as safe as it gets. I came from one of the top 10 safest cities in the US and know what I am talking about. I also now live in a wonderful city in northern Washington where there are none of the issues I experienced in Mill Creek. To all fellow Californians -you will be sorry if you listen to these 2 liars and rent an apartment at the Reserve. Another type of criminal that was arrested in Mill Creek while we were living there was an identity thief. Believe me, stay away from this town and the Reserve.

I have to agree that Snow20 probably is management - Why else would he/she need to try and deny it? Having said that, I have lived and managed apts in South Everett and near Mill Creek. The Reserve really is one of the nicest properties in the area, and most of Mill Creek trends toward the upscale. Normally this wouldn't cause me to doubt your story about the maintenance problems and the ridiculous rent (sometimes they try to force you into a lease with month-to-month fees.) What makes me doubt is this whole thing about gunshots hitting the side of the building, several murders taking place there, etc. Both my personal experience in the area and some web searches give me the impression that this is false. Finally, if things were really soooo bad, why on Earth would you stay there on a month-to-month lease in your allegedly smokey, smelly, bullet-ridden, washing-machine-less, moldy, noisy, fire hazard of an apartment?!?!? P.S. - Good luck finding an apt in Western Washington with an air conditioner, ("some units do not have air conditioners"), you moron. |

Wow anonymous....i just had my washing machine fixed in a matter of three days, actually 5 if you include the time it took to order a part that was needed to correct the problem. Then a week later the washing machine finally gave out and the maintenance crew replaced the washer in one day. let's make sure that you take your medication regularly before touching a computer again. i've never had a problem with maintenance, including replacing a hot water heater and a leaky air conditioner. its one of the nicest places that i've ever lived and have never heard gun shots at all. the local police, sheriff's dept. and even a live in state police officer constantly roam through the apartments. there will never be an apartment complex that's 100% crime free, accept it. by the sounds of your complaints of noise it seems as if you lived by Bothell-Everett Highway which is a critical part of your story that you conveniently left out. What do you expect living next to a major street? Like others said, if you were so unhappy there was an apartment complex less than a stone's throw away.
