For whatever reason, this complex has horrible management! In the two years I have lived here, we have had three managers. (One was actually fabulous, but she left after only a couple of months.)

I have lived in rentals for about 15 years now and have never lived in one where I have had so many maintenance issues as this one or the rent has been raised so much. Oftentimes, when they finally come to fix one thing, something else gets messed up. I have had cat pee outside my apartment door for months and have constantly complained about this and, while they washed the area once, it continues to stink (and they know this).

The newest manager is a real pain to deal with (and that's a huge understatement). If you come visit, just pay attention to how unhappy the people working with him look. Among other things, this manager doesn't honor agreements made with prior management, he makes inappropriate comments and jokes, and is not able to hear what you are actually saying many times. Every conversation becomes a battle to try to get your problem resolved, rather than a fair exchange of ideas or perspectives.

In the time he has been here, I have seen him put two elderly people under undue stress (he made them cry), the SWAT team came to deal with a gun-owning neighbor making threats, and another neighbor was stabbed with a sword. While he may not be responsible for the violence in the neighborhood, you have to wonder if you are up to living in this type of environment and are able to put up with shoddy management at the same time.

If you come visit, ask them how often they raise the rent and how much, ask them how long it takes to get maintenance issues resolved, ask them what their policies are if you have any issues with neighbors, and then ask them if they are willing to put any of their answers in writing. And, then, if you would like less stress in your life, find a better place to live!
