Very Disappointed

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
When I first saw the Andorra, I was very impressed. The grounds looked to be kept up very well. The apartment we moved in had just been remodeled, and it looked really nice.
A month after we moved in, the weather started getting colder. It was so cold that you could literally see your breath in our apartment.
I found out that there had been roofers who had caused major leaks throughout the buildings before I'd moved there. Because of this, the apartment felt very damp inside, very humid. After a few weeks of living there, I noticed that there was mold forming around all of the windows. It was absolutely ridiculous.
The cable company came to install cable and internet for us, but to our surprise the wires had been sliced....probably from the poor roofing job before we moved in. This was in November. We told the management about it. Comcast said that they could fix it, but the Andorra management refused to let them. They insisted on calling out contractors. After waiting for a few months for something to happen, I worked up the courage to go complain to the management. They told us that they were meaning to get back to us, that comcast was allowed to come in and fix our cable. So, we went through the trouble of arranging for comcast to come in, but once again...after they'd gotten there and wasted their time in our apartment, the management changed their minds and told them that they could not fix the cable. I've lived at the Andorra for 9 months now...and still cannot get cable.
When we first moved in there weren't many tennants around us, so it was relatively quiet. After a few months, our neighbors moved in all around us. Its amazing how thin the walls are here. I was woken up in the middle of the night to hear my neighbors having sex. I couldn't hear my movie over their loud music and video games.
The hallway carpets are covered with tar, which they informed us would be changed soon. Who knows if that'll ever happen.
The outlets/plug ins in the apartment are so crappy that nothing will stay plugged into them.
When our lease was up, they decided to up the rent to $1069/mo, which is outrageous...considering I can't even have cable/internet/phone in my apartment.
The managment never informs you if you've received a package in the mail. I had a present from a relative sitting down in their offices for a month before my relative finally called and asked me if I'd received it yet.
The hallway windows dont have screens on them. It gets really hot in the summer, so tennants open them to cool off, which ends up letting in tons of bugs/spiders. The garbage cans are always overflowing to the point where you could literally smell them from your apartment.
There are a few good things about the apartment complex. The size is really big (1100 square feet). It appears to be nice on the outside and inside (if you have a remodeled apt). The club house is nice, but it seems like it is locked half the time its supposed to be open because management decides to take long lunch breaks or show up late or leave early.
Everybody is welcome to make their own decisions about staying here. I just hope that you do your research before you sign a lease that sticks you with this terrible living experience. I would never recommend the andorra to anybody I know, and am so glad to be out of there!
