Pros and Cons

The PROS: My daughter and I lived at Bronson place for six months. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable to live in. Great little air conditioning unit in the living room. I found the maintenance dept to be responsive to my requests although a little slow and he didn't always actually fix the problem. It was within walking distance to shopping areas and we felt secure. I paid extra for parking so it was no problem and I thought the rent was reasonable. Sound insulation is good and I rarely heard anything from other apartments. The tenants at Bronson Place seemed very nice. Those are the pro's
The CONS list is much longer. The office was ALMOST NEVER OPEN when it was supposed to be. This meant that it was extremely difficult to get packages. I resorted to using an alternate mailing address because of it. Phone calls to the business office were rarely returned. After I moved out I ended up dropping off my keys in the mail drop box because no one responded to my phone calls and they were never there when they were supposed to be. This meant that I could not arrange for a final walk through so I had to trust the new management to be honest. I just now received my deposit back and found that $165 was deducted for cleaning. The apartment was extremely clean when I moved out. Every cabinet, every floor, no stains on the carpet. We rarely cooked so the oven was very clean as well. Every surface had been disinfected and cleaned.Turns out that the new management did the walk through and apparently decided that the preexisting and unremoveable stains on the very old flooring and very old tubs was our fault. Anyway, I don't have the time to try to get a hold of them to contest this...partly because they do not return phone calls and the office is always closed. So, if you decide to rent there just be sure to take photos of the condition of the apartment when you moved in and out and have a Post Office Box somewhere for your packages.
Other comments: Really no community amenities. The "Fitness Center" is ridiculous and unsafe. My daughter only used it a few times because the lights would not work and there were no locks on the doors. Anyone from anywhere could walk in. Being on a busy street this was a source of concern. The equipment barely worked, the tanning bed barely tanned. The management was informed but nothing changed.
In the short time I was there the dishwasher overflowed, it never emptied properly so an inch or more of fetid, standing water was always inside it: the hot water tank produced rusty water for most of the six months. Sometimes the water was completely red and unusable. I was told this would go away and was because the tank had sediment in the bottom. It never went away. The situation was partially corrected after maintenance flushed the tank completely, using gallons and gallons of water. I was told that I should get a credit for part of the next water bill. No credit was given so basically I paid extra to have water that was pinkish instead of completely rusty. Quite a deal!
The kitchen had extremely poor lighting and so was difficult to work in. The deck's flooring was warped and the outside storage closet reeked of mildew. The new washer was the noisiest one I have ever heard but at least it worked.
The fall brought an unpleasant infestation of drain or fruit flies to some of the units in the complex.(Apparently the office had them though since it was always closed I never personally saw this) Nothing was done about that either except be told that they would go away in a few months. I ended up using raid multiple times. The steps outside the apartment were slanted and wobbly at the bottom. I feared that if I stayed through the winter I would end up falling down them. So,that coupled with the fruit flies and deteriorating condition of the unit caused us to move elsewhere.
