Moving to Lakeside' Enjoy your "rape!"

Moving into the "Stately and luxurious" Lakeside apartments is like
contracting AIDS. The buildings look like crap, are in ill repair, the
hallways smell like 50 year old cigarette smoke, or the various drugs the
other "wonderful" residents do. The grass is littered with dog, cat,
and masses of goose dung, the "Lake" is a breeding ground for the
plague, the children around here are constantly starting fights, cussing more
than drunken fishermen, or writing such disgusting things on the
playground equipment that they couldn't publish it in the skankiest,
trashiest porno magazine. The management doesn't care, as they refuse to
paint over it, or do anything about it. I had to spray paint over it
myself, so my kids didn't learn a new "language." If you have packages
delivered to your door, they will most likely be stolen. If you inform
the management, they will just tell you to "contact the delivery
service, they might not have sent it" (rrriiiggghhhttt...) The dumpsters
are CONSTANTLY overflowing and surrounded by diseased furniture, AND THEY
CHARGE YOU FOR THIS "SERVICE!!" The staff lies to your face, smiling
the whole time. The
"repairs" they keep promising will never happen. I've been here a
year now, and NOTHING has worked, or been in operation. Not the HEAVILY
over-chlorinated hot tub, the goose-doody diseased pool, the tanning bed,
the pool table or the ping pong table, the exercise equipment, the
basketball court, (as the local kids have totally destroyed EVERYTHING)the
big screen in the cabana that is older than my MOM, the disgusting
excuse for furniture in said cabana, the rotten deck overlooking the
sludge-filled sewage hole (lake), the constantly flooded and muddy grassy
areas. The apartments themselves are like caves, with few windows and
horribly depressing dark brown 70's cabinetry and doorways in most. Under
the sinks is the constant stench of dead and decaying rodent. It
ALMOST covers up the smell of cat urine permanently embedded in the carpet
(which they will most likely charge us for when we finally get out, even
though we have no cat.) The parking is retarded, (good luck finding a
spot less than 3 blocks away if you come "home" after 7pm.)trash covers
the entire area, and expect to pay in excess of $50 for laundry every
month if you have children, as apparently, they have their washers
"specially made" to be half the size of regular washers, and the dryers work
like [doody]. (Both appliances cost $1.00/load each), despite the fact
that you OVERPAY for water, "dividing the water bill between all the
residents" so no matter how much water you do or don't use, you are still
paying for your neighbors (and/or staff) to wash their cars every day
if they want to. Read you contract carefully, they like to sneak things
in there. The water that comes out of the tap is sometimes tan or
biege in color. If you try to walk on the walkways (especially around the
lake, wear your rainboots or something, so as to spare your shoes from
the poop that is impossible to avoid unless you are an expert in the
fine art of hopscotch. I will say this, though: One of my neighbors is
VERY nice. (she is also extremely dissatisfied to say the least with
the apartments and management, and she is from Ethiopia!) All in all, if they cleaned up the place, finished the balconies, painted
the playground, changed the giant outside sandy litter box back into a
volleyball area, cleaned up the lake, and fixed everything in the cabana,
this place could probably be raised to the level of [doody].

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post, nodding my head to agreement throughout the whole thing. I now regret not having found this website before having signed the year long lease. Oh Bother.
