If you want to live in a crap hole, come to Lakeside

This apartment complex is awful. The walls are paper thin, you can even hear (and feel) when neighbors who live below you and along from you are playing music. It doesn't even have to be particularly loud for you to hear it. If you live in an apartment on the top level it sounds as if you have a family above you - I hate to think what's in the loft. The hallways and laundry room are filthy and oftentimes the stench is unbearable. Parking is terrible unless you're willing to fork out $35 a month for an undercover spot. The grounds are always littered with garbage and broken glass not to mention the goose and duck poop...and this isn't just beside the lake.
The water is always brown due to old pipes which they will never fix - don't drink the water if you are anywhere near health conscious. Outdoor lighting at night is inadequate. Good luck if you ever need maintenance. Since Tony left it's been non existent. The staff are fairly nice but nice just doesn't cut it. Ask them to do something and you always get an excuse.
This place used to be bad but it's getting steadily worse. I used to put up with it because for a time it was improving but it's no longer one step forward, two steps back. It's two steps back with no step forward at all now. The "community" leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, I'm beginning to feel like I live in a third world country.
I'll be moving as soon as I can. If you want to come and take a look at the place, make sure you walk round the back of the apartments and you'll notice a huge difference. At the front they look passable but from the back the place looks like a ghetto.
Be warned!!!

AHHH!!! I know what you mean!!!! I lived there before the renovations and during some of them and it was just horrible!! I lived on the second floor and the guy below me smoked in his house and it flowed through my whole place, cabinents, my dishes, it was bad...and I smoke myself! One night there was a drive by paintballing. I thought it was gunshots! My windows had paint on them and here I was lying on the floor. Also my neighbor made a bunch of ethnic food and unfortuantly it did not smeel the best and so that stunk up the whole floor and building sometimes. People were creepy. It was bad. I thought that it might have changed in the two years I was gone but I guess not.....good luck in your move!

You are so right!
The back of the place does look like a ghetto. Fortunately I live in one of the "nicer" areas but it appears that they put section 8's and people with children in that ghetto area and just let them have at it. (no offense towards the section 8 people-I'm sure many of you don't like it there either but that's where you end up.)
The laundry rooms are filthy. I have to wipe down the machines before I do my laundry.
The pipe upgrades are probably just a prep for going condo. My opinion anyway.

I agree with the back of the complex looking ghetto. Unfortunatley my family and I were placed in that area because the original apartment we put a deposit down on wasnt ready on our move in date and it was the only one available in the whole complex. Its horrible to be around that area, I try not to walk around with my expensive belongings out of fear of being mugged!
My family and I aren't Section 8 nor are we anywhere near it and it sucks over there!

They say he apartment you were supposed to move into wasn't ready but I don't believe that. I honestly believe that they try to fill the crappiest of apartments first.
Things are improving there somewhat but I'm expecting a huge hike in rent when I (or if) I renew my lease. To be honest, if they were to clean the place up properly I would be happy to renew with a higher rate, but I want to see the work done first. They tried to hike up my rent before they started all the work....yeah, good luck with that!!!
