As a resident for over a year, I give Maple Glen a thumbs down. My three largest issues were noise, pets, and building problems.

Move-In:
1) Carpets are professionally steam-cleaned, but were not replaced. 2)Major surfaces are cleaned and deordorized, but walls did not look repainted. OVERALL: the unit looked nice when I moved in. I found a few nicks, scratches and stains that were missed, but nothing in your face. The only issue I had was with my bathroom sink and tub drains, which were draining slow due to hair cloggs.

Animals:
1) Dogs of all breeds are allowed, but are required to stay on leash outdoors. A mandatory pooper-scooper rule is strictly enforced. 2) Cats are allowed, but are required to stay indoors. OVERALL: pets are a bother at Maple Glen. Management is very proactive at preventing dog waste on the grounds, which is kept in check. They are very reactive at barking dogs, having to be bothered several times to take action. Cats are allowed to wander outdoors, where they poo, fight at night, and wander into garages to cause damage to cars. Management claims to set cat traps, but no traps were ever seen while living there. House sparrows are everywhere at Maple Glen, nesting in eaves, pooing on windows and decks, yet unless easily reached, ignored by management.

Parking:
1) Garages are available, but some can only handle mid-size vehicles. 2) Garages are insulated, staying above freezing in Winter. 3) General parking is limited, often overflowing into fire lanes and landscaping. OVERALL: parking is hit or miss at Maple Glen. Some buildings have plenty of parking, some do not. Stalls are small, so expect dings in your doors.

Noise:
1) Interstate 5 generates a moderate amount of noise, but a concrete sound wall blocks a significant portion. Only units near the main enterance are greatly affected. 2) Animals, as described above, are a bother. 3) Tenants can operate motorcycles on grounds, including V-Twins and Harleys. 4) Sound insulation between units above or below units is below average, between units side-to-side is above average. 5) Bedrooms are located near/next to outdoor stairs. Footsteps and doors closing are easily heard at night. 6)Floors squeak. OVERALL: I had to wear earplugs at Maple Glen. It was the largest reason I left. The Harley at 6AM, the traffic chopper at 6:45AM, the barking dogs from 7AM till dusk, fighting cats from dusk till 3AM, and chirping sparrows from 3AM till 6AM.

Buildings:
1) Refridge and Range are above average. 2) Dishwasher cleans very well but is loud. 3) Washing machine eats clothes. Levis will be frayed in as little as 3 washings. 4) Hot water tank reheats quickly. 5) Floors squeak, management won't fix. 6) Carpets, especially hallway locales, are worn and management won't replace. 7) Windows are double paned, unscreened. 8) Heaters are electric ceramic in-wall models. 9) Ceiling fans were off-balance, rocking on high speed. 10) Drains in front of garage entryways often clogged, causing minor flooding during rains. Management slow to clean. 11) Outdoor skywalks were wood and prone to rot. Management eventually replaced them on many units, and even upgraded steps from wood to concrete, but some skywalks had softspots for months. OVERALL: its a mixed bag. The building is built to code, but they seem to have problems with cheap floors. Their onsite carpenter is very good, but expect complex issues to be ignored if they're not a saftey hazard or halting some major functionality.

Misc:
1) High speed DSL available, 6100 feet from CO 2) Close to shopping and entertainment in Lynnwood 3) Nice gym, tanning booth 4) Pool smells, water scummy

Closing thoughts:
Maple Glen isn't a horrible place. If noise, lack of parking for friends, and generic apartments don't bother you, its not bad at all. Just don't expect management to be pre-emptive in solving problems - you must bring them to their attention, even if its obvious to anyone who walks by.
