Awful place to live

Move here and you will be incredibly sorry. The office women are extremely moody, have control issues and lack common sense and professionalism. I am constantly amazed out how disrespectful they are to the people who pay their salaries. They say that there is a waiting listing. In truth though, they store their personal junk in empty apartments and people are constantly moving out.

Our apartment was dirty when we moved in after they promised us a completely refurbished apartment. They left the original cabinets in from the 1970 s. Let s just say the cabinets are a little squishy and freak me out.

DON T MOVE HERE.

Come-on, get a life! I???ve lived at Northern Lights for close to 2 years now. From my experience the front office people to very personable ??? generous both in word and deed. All are highly professional; demonstrate fantastic customer service and always willing to go that extra mile. The complex is always tidy, the grounds are well groomed, and the exterior surfaces of the decks and housing are regularly painted. This is a great place to call home whether it be for 6 months or 5 years. And to be upset about the cabinets ??? Please ??? I was provided an initial walk-through when I was apartment shopping and a final walk-through before I signed my lease agreement. I am sure you were afforded the same opportunity.

I do not agree with this rating. I have lived at Northern Lights for about a 1 1/2. I have never run into problems here. The entire staff has always been 100% warm and friendly. If I have ever needed help from the staff they were always here to provide excellent customer service in an extremely professional manner. This complex has been the most "family and or friendly oriented" place that I have ever lived. When you walk through the property and each person who passes you gives you a warm smile and a hello I would think you would feel at ease and satisfied. Aside from the comfort than myself and others have found here why you would complain over something as petty as cabinets is beyond me. If it is that much of a problem why not rent or buy a brand new home where everything is up to date? The friendly staff is why so many tenets have resided on this property for 10 years.

I've lived here for almost a year now myself and the office staff has been nothing but friendly and helpful. I agree that if there was an issue with the cabinets you should have mentioned it during your walkthough of the apartment. I rarely see people moving out due to the fact that this property is so highly in demand since the grounds are always kept clean and the staff lives on site. I am baffled by this fabricated story about "storing junk in empty apartments". I've never lived in a nicer friendlier development.

i have lived here since october and i love it here! i have lived in other apartments where the office staff are HORRIBLE and the staff here are ALOT better! they are definitely alot friendlier with residents then other staff i have had the displeasure of dealing with and that is a great thing!! maybe your just mad because of the way you moved out.. but i could be wrong. you saw the apartment before you moved in like every other person and knew what you were getting. and i have personally seen them replacing the cabinets in apartments that are being rented out so.. maybe your just too picky for your own good!!

I think that it is funny that most of the GOOD RATINGS say that the staff is "super nice"...does everyone use that expression or is this something that the staff is doing to make themselves look better. I just called today asking about an apartment and they were not even SUPER NICE. It was only a 3 minute conversation, and I would say that their customer service was on the edge of being snotty. Like she was TRYING to be nice. I would like a manager that is not TRYING to be nice. AND in fact....Landlords that "check up on you often" are a red flag, and make me feel like they are spying. I have never been a tenant that stands out in any means because I like to have my privacy...

I can settle this. I used to live in Northern lights. Some of the things said about the girls in the management office are quite true. If you're willing to kiss their butt and flirt with them a bit, you'll get decent service. They can be on a bit of a power trip from time to time, and they really think Northern Lights ---- don't stink - like it's the best complex ever or something. I would rate it as mediocre at best. The Pools have both been out of commission all summer long. The exercise gear in the "cabana" is crap, and if you want to play on the pool table you either have to bring your own balls and cues, or beg for them from the office girls - and only during business hours. Plus they kick you out promptly every night at 10pm. It's pretty much "screw you" if you happen to work graveyard or swing. The girls bathroom in the cabana has been out of commission for over a year now. Just before I moved out, I found mold coming through my ceiling and reported it immediately. I would normally have expected a response something like "wow, we're really sorry about the health hazard we're exposing you and your child to. The least we can do is move you to another apartment and give you a discount on rent for your trouble." Or SOMETHING. Any decent response along those lines, would do. Hell, that's just the decent HUMAN thing to do. What did they do? First they tried to blame me for not using my vent fan in the bathroom when I showered. So I pointed out that besides the fact that I do use the fan, the mold was coming through from the INSIDE of the walls. Then they handed me a can of spray paint to paint over it and raised my rent(probably unrealated, but a really crappy ass thing to do considering). The doors won't stay shut unless they're firmly latched, the dishwasher spewed water all over the counter every time I used it, the freezer either let my ice cream turn to mush if I turned it down one tiny notch, or everything in the back of the fridge would freeze solid if I turned it up one notch. Now at this point I must concede that I never reported the fridge or dishwasher issue to them. What's the point? It's not like they're going to do anything about it unless the thing is completely non-functional. I learned that lesson from direct experience. They were good about fixing the plumbing when that broke for the most part, but that's about it. I have a six year old son, and the pitiful excuse for a playground isn't worth the effort. There's just nowhere for kids to play except the tennis court(WHOOPDEE DO) and what passes for sort-of a basketball court. Final assesment: It's *slightly* cheaper rent in this WAY overblown market(like what's so great about MLT anyway? There's nothing to DO here), so this place is kinda ~okay~ for a short term stay, and only if you don't have kids. Otherwise if you want to stay somewhere for any length of time, I would skip it. The office staff kind of has an attitude like they're giving you SUCH a great deal, and you should be ever so grateful. And maybe it *is* the cheapest place in MLT, but that's not saying much. For ~$45 or so more a month you can get a great 2bdrm townhouse in Shoreline, Edmonds, or Bothell. Newer too.

I'll have to agree with the above poster. This place is a dump. The parking lot, and dead shrubs all over the property are the first thing that one sees when visiting. The driveway looks like it was in a major earthquake, with fault lines and potholes everywhere. And though a lawsuit was won by Northern Lights over the improper chemical use that a landscaping firm used to destroy nearly every tree and shrub on the property,.....they still haven't remedied the problem. It's an eyesore, plain and simple. Oddly, the owner chooses to paint the exterior of the complex during the onset of winter, when it was raining nearly every day. No wonder the paint chips off so quickly. On the flip side, during the summer when the pools are usually open to tenants, they chose to do reconstruction and maintainance on both of them for the entire duration of the summer. The lighting (or lack thereof) at night is a safety hazard. Car prowls are frequent here, primarily due to the lack of light. And I find for the most part that the attitude of management is rather cavelier regarding any issues you bring up. All that seems to concern them is that you sign another lease. Thumbs down, Northern Lights....you've gotten so much worse over the years.
