Loooooong review, but thorough and informative

Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2009
Parking:
There's plenty of convenient parking and available free spaces for visitors (we have numbered parking spaces). There are carports available if you don't like your car getting rained on or too hot during the summer, but you have to pay extra. A carport collapsed this year, but I don't know why. Too much weight from snow maybe. Don't know. If you're in a building up or downhill, parking can really suck when it snows. If you don't have the right car for snow, you usually have to park on the middle level of the complex where the entrance is.
Noise:
Depends on your neighbors. Sometimes there are the young ones who like to party, sometimes people play their tv and music loud. Just recently two families moved in across the buildings from me and they can be pretty loud. But none of that really bothers me. Again, it depends on which part of the complex you live in. Overall, it's pretty quiet. I would recommend taking a top floor apartment though, otherwise you'll hear your neighbor's every footstep.
Grounds:
One of the greatest things I like about these apartments is the seclusion. There's only one entrance to the complex and we're surrounded by woods. All I see is the forest from my back porch. The landscaping is very decent, nothing too fancy, just decent. The park is right next to us. It's an awesome park with newly fixed trails. The mayor lives right by the entrance, no joke. There's a bus stop next to the park and the ferry is minutes away, as well as the library, police and fire department, a Wallgreens, a YMCA (and skatepark), a high school, two middle schools, and three elementary schools. Mukilteo itself is a nice little city, a very relaxed, wealthy, and nice community (huge generalization).
Safety:
I've never questioned my safety here. There can be troublesome people just like any place, but it's never affected my living situation. Cops seem to patrol the complex quite frequently, though I don't know why. For whatever reason, it's never caused any disruption. The creepiest places are under the stairs, but there's usually a bush there to cover up the hole. Some of the buildings are quite close to the tree line, with the back porch facing the woods. So if that creeps you out then I'd try finding a building farther from the woods. It's safe here. Just take the normal precautions and safety measures and don't be stupid and leave your door unlocked and your car windows open.
Construction:
I don't know why but they went from white buildings with blue doors to a light, poopy brown with green ones. But oh well. The buildings still look perfectly decent. The layout of an apartment depends on the building. I had one friend who only had one bathroom. Another friend's bathroom had extensive cabinetry, while neither of mine do. I live in an upstairs apartment, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. Upstairs have higher ceilings. Some buildings' railing and upstairs walkways were redone. Mine wasn't redone, which kind of sucks. I swear, it would take one strong kick, maybe two, and the entire railing would fall off. But I think I'm exaggerating a little. Cabinetry and appliances vary from apartment to apartment. Some have new appliances and white cabinetry while others have crappy, older appliances with brown cabinetry. The remodeled apartments are really awesome and pretty. More expensive, but a lot nicer. There are various stylistic things that I could complain about, but I think that's being waaayy too picky. One of the best aspects are the fireplaces. I've found that most other apartment complexes don't have one. They're fun to have in the winter and they just look nice. In the remodeled apartments, the fireplace is replaced with an entertainment center for a tv and whatnot. The closets are huge, not walk-ins though. I like the buildings. There are ten units in each building, not crowded like most apartments with six or eight units back to back in a three story building. This is cool because there are more windows. There are two playground areas within the complex, though I'd rather go to the park right by. The tennis/basketball court and pool are pretty nice, although they don't always keep the water perfectly clean. One time I snuck into an empty apartment that had just been cleaned and fixed. It looked pretty decent to me and ready for a new resident. One of my complaints could be that it's a bit drafty, but not anything that the heater or warm clothes can't handle. The back porches are covered by the way, something a lot of apartments seem to lack. No roofs in rainy Washington is just stupid. Come on.
Maintenance:
Any time anything has broken, they always fix it. If they don't get to you right away, it's probably because they're super busy. I never seem them NOT doing anything. They're pretty cool guys too if you respect them and aren't rude and demanding. They've always fixed any problem we've had. But that's just my experience. I had a friend who lived here with her family for a long time and their dishwasher was never fixed. I have no idea why though. Maybe it all depends on how you ask, I don't know. Anyway, everything functions up to my standards. They also have inspections a few times a year to make sure everything is working and to see what needs fixing. A little mold only forms by my windows. But come on, it's wet here. There are ways to prevent mold from developing. If there's a lot of mold developing, then it's probably your fault.
Staff:
I don't interact with them much, but they all seem nice enough. Some of them aren't very jolly and conversational and some are friendly and welcoming. The serious ones seem to just want to get down to business, which is fine because that means they're keeping everything in order. They can be very understanding when it comes to paying rent, but then again I've lived here for over a decade. They're probably not so lenient with people who've been here a month. But I really wouldn't know. Pretty decent staff I'd say. I wouldn't take their characters into too much consideration. Unless they're unjustly rude or consistently unhelpful and unresponsive, I wouldn't be too hard on them. Don't draw too much attention to yourself by being loud, paying late, or trashing your apartment, and they'll leave you alone.
Overall:
I enjoy living here. It's so private (considering it's right by the speedway), like a hidden apartment treasure amongst an area with nothing but houses (apartment complexes tend to be by other apartment complexes). Before I moved in, it actually used to be called Hidden Forest Drive, a very appropriate name. I'd stay here until I move to Oregon, but I have to move out soon and it's just not a very convenient location for college and work. I like the community, I like the woods. Most of the neighbors keep to themselves, but they're still friendly for the most part. The maintenance people didn't even care that I drew on my closet doors! Haha. It's not luxurious and it doesn't come without flaws, but it's nothing to prevent someone from living here. It's good for roommates, couples, singles, families of one or two kids. Take a look, a thorough look. It's a very, very decent complex.
