Interurban Ghetto by a Golf Club in Mukilteo!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
We moved up from San Jose, 2002. When saw the apartment, I was in tears. It was better than the lease we signed for an apartment sight unseen and had to break, but the pepto bismol pink tile and countertops tell you something. The interior doors are all crappy $10 recycled plyboard. THere is a reason why they try to charge you for every penny of your deposit. The apartments are not cleaned when you move in. We were also put on the "screen waiting list". However, when they tried to raise my rent and make me sign another lease, I went through the roof. I called no less than 80 times the previous year to get my garbage disposal and my stove fixed. Its so hot on the third floor during the summer that you can do nothing but sweat and pant... and during the winter, all the heat from the apartments below you rise to yours (we happen to be on the third floor).
The manager did install ceiling fans in all our bedrooms and our kitchen, sent someone to look at every appliance, and apologized profusely for their inadequate service (she said she didn't want to lose people like me because they were trying to turn the complex around)... let me tell you why.
Our neighbors are ghetto white trash, who bang on the walls with their bodies and furniture, slam doors, and run around at all hours of the night, screaming expletives at each other. I also had both my cars broken into, my top of the line stereo stolen, and my mountain bike stolen from my balcony. There is a little boy underneath who is trying to "live up to the hood's rap" as he told me... he plays his rap and his other music (which is ok by me... until I can hear it pounding in my brain because my windows and my bed is shaking at 645am in the morning) so loud that we thought it was coming from our neighbors directly behind us... They party almost every weekend. We have these huge gangs of teens who for the most part aren't too bad... but they like to think that they are... I think the worst part is they think they are the OTG gang. they run up and down our stairs, creating havoc, steal stuff from peoples patios. There is supposed to be a curfew for the loitering... but the police never check. We have police sirens every weekend... and frequently have the paramedics and the fire department visiting on the green as well.
It is nothing like they sold it to us. It was supposed to be safe, kid friendly (I am beginning to see that as meaning run down). The amenties are nice... were they kept up. The fitness facilities are from 1991. The equipment in there is that old. The basketball court is really nice...if you can get to use it. They have no idea how to care for the pools so the chemicals are all out of whack. If you don't want to damage your eyes, don't swim in there at all.
The girls in the office are all nice, but a bunch of airheads who really don't know anything about renters rights or the law, and they are ignorant when it comes to asking anything but the most mundane questions ("can I pick up my package'" seems a rather difficult chore for a couple of them).
These apartments are horrible. I would hate to see what Washington calls a ghetto if this is supposed to be luxury clubhouse living. However the other apartment community is worse... so you have a choice... Mine would have been to eat the extra four hundred a month in rent and find a nicer place.
