I lived here in two different apartments for one year. I finally used the Archstone Home Buying service to purchase a new home. That service was wonderful, about the only positive experience I had at Newport Crossing.

The apartments are spacious, but that is where the accolades end. The black mold throughout the apartment is very noticeable. All the apartment complex does about the mold is paint over it. The kitchen drawers barely open without falling out. The appliances are antiques and work ok. The carpet was awful. I asked them to at least clean the carpets when I moved in and they said they already had.

The area is a very affluent area with $500,000 homes staring at you from the hillside. The only reason I moved here was because it was CONSIDERABLY cheaper than any other aparment complex in the area by 200-300 a month!!

I have two cars, and only one carport. On a daily basis I had to park in the very back of the complex, at the only spots available. Then the hike across the complex to your unit. Both of my vehicles were vandalized and my Lexus had two attempts of break in. I actually was awoken by someone outside my window and found out it was someone trying to break in to my car. Car prowls are very high here!!!!!!

I will say that the apartment staff were very friendly and helpful. I believe they were doing the best job, despite what they had to work with.

The noise, aside from car prowls, was probably the most anoying. The people below me were finally evicted for naked swimming in the pool, which is NOT 24 hours, at 2 in the morning! There is constant drunks yelling outside your windows and doors. Then there is the "kids" and I use this term lightly, that boom their stereos all hours of the day and NIGHT.

Overall, if you are looking for an average apartment in a nice "surrounding area," close to the city, Newport Crossing is your complex. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a safe place to park your car, look elsewhere!!

Ever wonder why a multibillion dollar company like Archstone denies its staff the resources to care for residents? Safety? would you actually feel safe leaning on one of the rotted hand rails? Do you believe painting over mold kills the spores? Do you think kids can drown in ponds or only pools? Do you believe the maintenance staff are all certified pool chemists, electrictions, plumbers and toxic black mold experts? And night patrol? If you want to catch a few winks of sleep, just pretend you think there's somebody out there keeping an eye out for your safety and wellbeing.
