I'm not going to choose an Archstone complex. They do have some good policies, like free carpet cleaning after 1 year, but they charge fees for everything! Not only does this complex charge a $300 NON-REFUNDABLE pet deposit, but they also have the nerve to charge PET RENT (I believe it's around $25 a month). When I questioned the office staff about that, they told me they were doing it because other complexes are starting to do it. What kind of a reason is that'!

This complex also charges an crazy amount of money for monthly water/sewer/trash. My bill last month was over $55.00 and I'm a single person living in a one-bedroom apartment. I've also questioned office staff about this (they maintain that each apartment is metered), and they could not even explain what all of the itemized charges on my bill were covering. At my last apartment my roommate and I paid less money TOGETHER for water/sewer.

What one of the previous reviewers said about the appliances is true. They're old, probably the originals that came with the place, my stovetop is on a slant, my dishwasher was missing the front screws to hold it in place when I moved in, and my washing machine sometimes requires two washings just to get the detergent off clothes.

All of that said, I do find my apartment to be quiet, and I rarely hear my upstairs, next-door or downstairs neighbors. The insulation seems better than in the brand-new apartments being build nowadays.
