Positives:
First off the area is beautiful! The townhomes also (in my opinion) have a nice exterior. Some of the staff members are very nice and helpful...but you'll soon find out the majority aren't!
Negatives:
As for the actual living experience...the walls are paper thin, and the quality of the townhome is VERY questionable. We had constant problems w/ appliances. The stairs are a death trap if there is anybody over 50 you plan on having over. They are WAY overpriced and will continue to jack up your rent everytime your lease comes up (i think they raised ours somewhere between 50-100 each time). If you re-sign they will offer upgrades to your townhome, but in our experiences the upgrades were cheap and not worth it, plus they took over 6 weeks to complete, if completed at all! The parking is awful...if you have friends coming over make sure they carpool! Also, in the winter that cute little hill all the units are on can become a real mess to drive up. The new speed bumps they put in are like driving over small mountains, so if your driving w/ breakables make sure to wrap them in mattresses. And the absolute worst part about our experience at Rock Creek Ridge was (by far!) the way we were treated on our way out. This is one of those places that looks at you like an enemy once you decide to move on. Like one of the previous revewiers said, they will charge you $300 for carpet...no matter what! And your deposit will not cover this since each unit gets a $250 cleaning as well...that erases the deposit almost immidiately! My wife and I were OCD about keeping this place spotless, and we left it in great condition...then a week later we got our additional $400 bill from them. I went in to plead our case and ended up waiting over an hour to speak to somebody (they knew what i was there for and basically ignored me hoping i'd just leave). I was friendly despite the wait and just wanted to go over it with them (even bringing up the fact that a year earlier when we re-signed they told us this wouldn't happen), and all i got was sour looks and utter coldness. I am usually a very calm person and the way they treated me that day had me inches from erupting.
Overall our experience there despite the flaws was liveable and sometimes even enjoyable. We moved there in 04 planning to stay until we bought a house, which is what we did, but Rock Creek on many occasions left us asking ourselves if another apartment move was worth it. It's a real shame since the area is so beautiful and the townhomes could be too if they were ran by people w/ integrity. My advice to anybody still willing to give them a shot is get anything they tell you in writing! They lied to us numerous times and we didn't have a leg to stand on since all we had was the word of an employee that no longer worked there (they turn over staff members like Mcdonalds does burgers!). In the end it cost us an extra $400 and ruined any positive memories i had of this place (reference the size difference between the positive and negative sections). Tread w/ caution!
