If they'd stop jacking up the prices....

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2006
We've lived here for over 4 years now. Starting in 2002, we rented a 1:1 for $610. After 6 months, and the 1:1 being way too small, we upgraded to a 2:1 at the end of 2002. We started renting at $690 which we were happy with. In the 3 years since then we are now paying aprox. $750 with the recent changes being now forced to pay part of the Wat/sewer/garbage. The main reason people rent apartments is to not have to pay these fees. We pay an aprtment rated rate, which in no way reflects our actual use. We were never shown any real documentation of actual costs, let alone what our aproximate usage is. We are two working adults who are rarely home, and we pay what a small family with easily doublt our usage also pays. Also, we were just informed that as of last month, by not being on a lease, even though we have been tenants for what is considered a long time, we will have to pay a $55/month charge for not being on a lease. My husband and I have been trying to buy or rent to own a house for over a year, and wanted to keep our options open. It's utter B.S. to force us to pay a fee for a service this complex has always offered. So our new rent (if we decided to stay) would be about $800 for a two bed one bath. The fees they keep imposing, and the ridiculas rate the prices keep jumping have really dissuaded me from a place I used to feel comfortable calling home. Also, as many of us have mentioned, the walls are paper thin, and management does little to solve problems with multiple complaints issued.
