Horrible Place..

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004

I moved into Arbor Terrace Apartments back in May of 2003 and moved out in May of 2004. It was great when I first lived there up until 3 months before our lease was up. The people were wonderful especially Mike and always helpful at first but slowly the good people left. In there place poor servers were in there place. They held some mail at the office so that I could pick it up. Well they lost my easter package from my parents that overnighted it for 2 weeks. All forgiven that's okay maybe it was the mail service. Well on moving out I had asked if they would give my check to the carpet people because I had to work and I wouldn't be back to the apartment and I gave them the keys. They never notified me that I should have given a written notice of leaving, check it over with them, or that they wouldn't hold the check. The carpet company started calling me telling me that the office didn't have my check. I went to visit them and they claimed they didn't have it, I had never given it to them (I even spoke to the woman I gave it to and she claimed I never gave it to her) and that they couldn't find it in any clear folder that I had claimed they put it in. I had to pay my bank $15 to stop payment on that check that they lost and then pay for my carpet cleaning over the phone. So I was irrate over that but I was moved out, so over right' Wrong. I had a collection agency (of which I didn't know there was a bill) calling me telling me I owe like $450 or something because I didn't give written notice of my moving out one month prior (although I had told them verbally several times they never told me I needed to put it in writing) for the next month's rent, maintenance, painting, cleaning (although I cleaned the apartment thoroughly for two weeks), carpet cleaning (although I gave them the check for the carpet company and the carpets obviously had been cleaned). So $450 was left or something AFTER they deducted our deposit from the charges. I argued with the collection agency about the carpet cleaning and the situation and they dropped that fee. She said I could go ahead and bill them for the stop payment but they would never pay it and would weasel their way out of a measley bill like that. So after all that, I would NEVER ever recommend this apartment complex to anyone except maybe my worst enemy. By the way we moved out because we didn't want to live in an apartment any longer and we had found a cute little three bedroom two bath house with huge backyard that was $150 more per month but well worth the privacy and space.
