Mariners Glen is by far the most unsat place to live!!!! I have a list of complaints, I don't even know where to begin. First let me start by saying that they lost the spare keys to some of the apartments, and then when I confronted the staff at the office about it they had a very "I dont care attitude". It's scary to think every night when I go to bed I will be wondering if my spare key is put away and in the right hands. Then the second most important is we have a faulty fireplace that has smoke bellowing in when the neighbors use their fireplace. The complex has known for over a month and still have not made any attempts to fix it. It's a horrible to think that I am subjecting my children to living conditions which are just unsafe. Then their turn around time for repairs are always a few days, INCLUDING such things as HEAT. I was without heat for over 24 hours last month, and in the midst of it my neighbor was using their fireplace so the apartment was filled with smoke and I couldnt open the windows to let it out because of having no heat. It was a very horrible night, finally the next afternoon I raised the biggest stink and it got fixed. The staff at the office never called to follow up with me or to even apologize for the imcompetence of the staff. Then there are things such as outdated appliances, uneven door frames and cheap carpeting. Those are just some of the things on the inside, the outside is just as worse. Some of my neighbors have a horrible protruding oders from their apartments, so whenever I have company over they always comment how disgusting it is. And on top of it some delivery people refuse to drop off at my place, and leave my packages at the main office. I have complained but as usual nothing ever got done. And you think that the staff at the main office would as a courtsey call me to let my packages have arrived. I had picked up on packages and the staff in the office laughed and said its been up here for awhile. I was thinking to myself how difficult is it to pick up a damn phone and let me know, i mean if they kept up with their job of getting on residents who are down right slobs then my packages would make their way to my door. Then there is dog poop all over and when i complained they said they have been doing the best they can. Well i have lived here for over two years, so they can't be trying that hard. And then I complain about the lack of lighting in the complex and how unsafe it is at night to walk around and the answer that was given to me was that they have all the light that is allowed. That is crap, the staff report to someone and they need to address these issues with whose ever in charge of them. Another crappy thing is how fast people go in the complex. On top of all that BS the complex has the nerve to send me a letter to remind me of renewing my lease and thay actually raised it a bit. I dont feel the apartment is worth it and I think they should be required to fix things before a lease get signed. Hell I should refuse to pay rent all together until my issues are dealt with and dealt with in a respectable manner. So this is to everyone who is considering living here, DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you are a fan of getting your teeth pulled without novocaine, i suggest you find another place.... Oh and if anyone has any questions or any advice on my issues then feel free to email me at jncoop@yahoo.com.
thank you all and good luck....

So what would have happened if your package would have been dropped off at your doorstep when you weren't home and somebody else stole it? Delivery companies drop packages off at the main office for a reason.

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself..I am Amy Brainin, Property Manager of Mariners Glen.
As I have often veiwed this web-site in a light-hearted manner, understanding that people do have frustrations with many aspects of life, this is just an outlet for frustrations. I have noticed that often reviews are one-sided, stating problems that are never brought to Management's attention for resolution. I also sadly note that when we recieve positive reviews, those writing reviews are blasted or accused of being managment. Saying that I had to respond to this one as I have made many, many attempts to address the above complaint with our concerned resident, to no avail.
Each and every memeber of our staff take pride in maintaining our beautiful community. Things will happen, but we address each item as quickly as possible. I would like to use the example of the above written review regarding the loss of the house key. Our resident did not know about the loss of their key, until I brought this to her attention. Daily we do key audits, to make certain, every single key is secured in our lock box. The minute it was noted that this particular key was missing, our resident was contacted immediatley and locks were changed. Knowing our policy, perhaps all that read this will understand that we do not take security lightly, had we have taken this lightly we would have never notified the resident. I will also add, that the key had fallen below a seat of the responding maintenance technician's car (whom was trying to perform a work order for this resident) vehicle, which ultimateley caused the key to be misplaced. Once again, the key audit was performed, and the lock was changed, leaving this whole experience lasting only hours, not overnight.
I have spoken with delivery compaines regarding delivery policies and was assured that at no time would they not deliver packages due to odor. I have inspected this hallway, and never noticed an odor, but to try to resolve this we have pressure washed the entryway, just to insure the happiness of our resident.
All fireplaces/chimneys are inspected and cleaned yearly, by a certified Chimney cleaning specialist, there was no failure noted in either this home or the home below. The chimney cap has been extended to allow air flow through the chimney, and I will note that to date I have not recieved any further incident from our resident.
We truly do care about our residents, and do everything quickly to ensure a positive living experience. I will say, that yes my email is another side of this review. I would also like to say, that this review caught me so very off guard, as numerous times I had spent time with our resident at our many community functions, and never once were these areas of concern brought to my attention...I have always been there to address concerns, and do not understand why it had to come to this extreme.
Closing this response, I invite anybody with a frustration, concern, comment or suggestion to please bring these to my attention. As a staff we will truly try to accomiadate every person whom calls our community "HOME".

Honestly we can go back and forth all day with this, but the truth is I had some serious issues that I wanted addressed. And when I brought my issues to the staff and later management I received a very "no big deal" attitude. Just a tip for next time, when you have an irate resident with serious issues you need to address them immediately with a serious tone. Heres a quick example: right before christmas I had no heat for 2 days and at the same time there was smoke filling my apartment from the fireplace below, and we couldnt open our windows due to having no heat, well i let the maintenance man know how IRATE i was, especially having babies in the apartment, Not one phone call or anything from staff or management to show their sincerest apologies. And I am sure that the maintenance man gave an earfull to you all. Know if it was me and i was running a business and I knew the hell one of my customers endured, I would be bending over backwards for the customer. But we all have our own agendas... And I like many others woke up and moved out!
