A few months after moving in to the apartment, our storage unit was broken in to. It took the complex 4 months to get it fixed. Luckily nothing was taken.
About a month ago my husband and I went on vacation. We dropped the rent off at the office a week prior to it being due. A couple of days after getting back from vacation we had a 'pay rent or leave property' notice on our door. To say the least, we were furious! We had never been late on rent before, but they didn't take that in to consideration or think to call us to see if something was wrong. When I called them I left them a very upset voicemail that we had indeed paid the rent and where the worker had put it. The next morning I got a call from the manager to see what had happened. I explained to her in detail what we had done with the rent check. She went to the drop box, and there it was! She closed the conversation saying, 'Sorry for the minor heart attack'. We found this entire event very unprofessional.
When we gave our notice, it was a few days after the 60 day notice that they insist upon. The lady at the counter said it was good to go and there wouldn't be an extra charge. A few days later on our door there was a notice that we owe 97.00 for the first 5 days of September.
Several of my friends have lived in Mariners' Glen and all of them have been penalized for cleaning charges when leaving. I guess that's the next and luckily last thing they'll be able to screw us on.
I suggest you look elsewhere when trying to find an apartment.

I read your post and completely agree. I too wrote a post, it starts with I had better living conditions at boot camp, read it and sadly it is all true. whats really sad is that i lived in a condemned building once while in the military and that too was a nicer environment. good luck to you and your new apartment.
