I recently moved into an apartment at the Archstone Redmond Lakeview. We really liked the apartment that we had selected and decided to move in. The process was fairly simple, yet systematic. I was impressed that they even have a sheet which lists the fees charged at move out, if there is a problem. I like this level of transparency.

My rent was at the lower end, primarily because my apartment is not renovated and does not have a washer-dryer in unit. I have seen comments that rent are at the higher end at this community and I can see why they charge a premium. But if you get a non-renovated apartment, your rent could be lower. Also, the rent varies dependent on the lease duration. So check for the optimal duration to get the best deal.

After move-in, I noticed some problems, which I logged in their online service management system. The issues were taken care of, within a period of 1-5 days, but to our satisfaction. There were some things which should have been fixed before move-in, but were not - because of the tight timeline for the maintenance crew to turn around the flat to accommodate our move-in date. Although that is not an acceptable excuse, there were not many big problems that would affect my rating.

About the apartments - They are good size apartments with a pretty good layout. The walk in closets are big. The top floor units have nice vaulted ceilings and some of the apartments have good views of Lake Sammamish. The apartments come with energy efficient bulbs, which is good. The insulation and walls also seem good, as we have not heard our neighbors, but we do live on the top floor.

About the community - Everyone has access to the lake and boat moorage can be purchased for an additional fee. The gym is small, but decent. There are 4 exercise machines. There is an indoor spa/jacuzzi. But there is no swimming pool in the complex. There are a couple of laundry rooms with newer washers & dryers which use a special laundry debit card - so no need to deal with quarters.

About the management - The management & maintenance crew is quite friendly and we have not had a problem in the 5-6 interactions that we have had with them so far. It seems that they are committed to the satisfaction of the residents.
