Rent at your own risk

This used to be the perfect place to live back in 2003 and up until 2005. They had a beautiful pond, a family of ducks there, well kept grounds. Starting in 2005 the pond disappeared with no reason, the ducks are gone, and the grounds are littered with exception of those around the office. Their so called "flexible lease terms" are just a simple trap. In 2006 rent went so high, for no reason. They had raised the rent by about 70% for a great deal of residents, so the summer was an endless parade of moving trucks.
They had some untold reason to empty intentionally the apartments and to do their remodel.
It was a horrible ordeal for my family and we would not recommend the community to our worst enemy.
The only truly good thing I can mention is the perfect maintenance.
The noise level is unbearable - you can hear your neighbors going to the bathroom. The countertops are peeling. The stairways are your responsibility to clean. They have a childcare facility and if you live close by you should not attempt to park or walk there between 4-6.30pm. The parents drive like crazy and dont stop for pedestrians, including kids. This may sound too harsh, I am really sorry thats true and at the office are aware of the problem.
The way they have made so many people move out is really outrageous, think twice before you rent.
PS They don't control pet owners and you can step on dog's waste at anytime.

This is in response to clifswin. I was renting a 2 bedroom and when I tried to renew my 10 month lease, the rent increased more than 30%. My co-worker had a similar experience. He was renting a 3 bedroom and his rent increased more than 40%. This was in 2006. Obviously both of us moved out. Those kinds of rent increases are just insane. I also agree with the original reviewer about the noise. The apartments were horribly noisy. BTW, are you the same Cliff that works in the Archstone Redmond Campus office? |

I never lived there but refuse to. The office staff was sleezy and used car salesman-ish. Really gross... I'd rather sit in traffic for an hour then live in a place run by such creeps. Nice meeting you, KK. :(

Yes, I'm that Clif. All I can say about rent going up by that much is that you must've been looking for a lease term other than the "best price" one. Archstone places (ALL Archstone places) will rent for any term from 2 to 12 months, but they'll always have one term they're more eager to have you choose and will give the best price for that one. If that's not the one you want... yeah, the price will be higher. It's still a better deal than not letting you have that term at all, which is the alternative. Of course if you were running the place, you'd never do such a thing. And the place would fall apart and you'd have to sell out in a few years. Not the best strategy, but it does keep the rents low. NeverLT: I hope you found someplace you like. Maybe if you DID live here you'd like it -- as thousands have and do -- but you don't, and won't, and so I hope wherever you are, you're happy. |
