The location is excellent. I can run a lot of errands on foot, and I love being able to walk to the library and the Sammammish River Trail. The staff is cordial and accommodating, and the grounds are well maintained. I love the flower pots in front of the Welcome Center. I also like our floor plan, the big windows in our living room, and having safe, well-lit underground parking. Most other apartment communities make you look and feel like you live in a parking lot

I don't feel, however, that AvalonCommunities values our business here. The turnover is high and there is no shortage of Microsoft employees to take our place. When we renegotiated our lease last year, we ended up paying more than we would have signing a new contract for a similar apartment in the community and were presented with the option of signing or getting out. So much for customer retention and fostering long-term relationships.

The cardio room is abysmal, by the way. Neither of the two treadmills works properly (one has been scrolling "notify maintenance" for several months, and the women's bathroom was clogged up for several days - if not weeks.

I am not sure we will sign on for another year when our lease comes up for renewal.

Is there a bolt on door inside the apt? Is the apt sprinkled and are there security patrols? Hows the heating in winter and AC in the summer? Is there a bus stop nearby to get to DigiPen? A concerned mom in TX for son who will be freshman 09-08.
