Not too many complaints

I picked this place as a compromise - Lion's Gate is where I really wanted to live, but this was about 50% of the price.

We had the largest type of 2 bedroom unit, facing south, which I highly recommend. South is a park and the police station / senior center. In fact, many residents are seniors who want to live near the senior center and the trail, which makes it fairly quiet. The only noise is the twice a year recycling event in the police station parking lot.

The quality of construction was mediocre to above average. Right as we were moving out (July 1998), they painted the units the awful brown shades that they are today. The only complaint I had about that was that they left the windows sealed with plastic, from the outside, for days on end, in July. Needless to say, it got kind of hot. Luckily we moved the day before ours got taped up.

We paid for one covered spot and one uncovered spot. We never had a problem with anyone parking in our spots. If you go for uncovered, in the winter, you will get a bit of frost on the car in the morning from frozen dew.

We lived on the top floor, which might contribute to our feeling of it being quiet. In my apartment experiences, being under someone was always the problem. Our unit was structured so that we could open windows in the two bedrooms and get a cross-breeze (and even better - there was no walkway by the inside window, so no one could break in if you left the window open overnight), which made it very bearable.

The office staff was reasonable, they accepted packages from UPS on a few occasions (although I had to guess that they did this, sometimes the UPS guy didn't leave a note on the door). When we left, they had changed the lease to say that if you broke your lease, you didn't get your cleaning deposit back. Our lease said that we did. We fought with them for a while and eventually I gave up. I could have taken them to court, since it was pretty clearly in our lease that we would get it back, but it wasn't worth it for $200. Another casualty of the system.
