The Worst Apt. Rental Experience of my Life!

Absolutely the worse rental experience I have ever had... and I tend NOT to overstate. I've rented/lived in apartments for almost 20 years in several states in many price ranges... this was the worst. Don't make the mistake I made-- and my friends made... wanting to live near the Sammamish bike path and downtown proved not to even be remotely worth the hassle Avalon puts you through. I'm very happy living elsewhere in Redmond... and laugh, at myself, for the dumb choice I made-- every time I drive by this place. BTW-- if your apt. is near the street-- don't let them convince you "you'll get use to the noise..." or " this is an unusally busy time of day"... the noise is unbearable during the day... it truely rattles the nerves. The staff is cordial when you are looking to to rent... once you move in, it's a totally different attitude. You will have to fight for every single repair-- even the one's "agreed to" by management before you move in. And don't count on them being done, as promised, by your move-in date. Also don't count on the staff to honor any agreements made by previous employees-- and there'll be a lot of previous employees... turnover was like a revolving door. 6 new managers and countless repair staff changes in 12 mos. And don't be fooled by the "remodel"... it was just paint, carpet and some cheap counter top inserts. I lived in this place during the remodel phase... underneath the the new, shiny veneer are 20 year OLD apartments that require CONSTANT maintenance. It is all about get people in for 12 mos. and then jack up their rent when it's renewal time... because they know you are relunctant to pack-up again and move. It seems their goal is try to keep repair costs as low as possible by not doing the repairs until they absolutely have to. Example(one of many): I had to call my attorney and the City of Redmond to write a letter because I DON'T have hot water for almost 4 weeks! You'll be surprised how many tentants will say" screw it" and move after 6 or 12 mos. lease is up.... renter cycle through here like no other apt. complex I've lived. Every single tenant I knew left within 1-yr... and all were so relieved when their contract/lease was up. You have too many choices on the Eastside... rent somewhere else.
