Unless you have hearing problem, be prepared to wake up before sunrise every wednesday. The lawn mower grinds at full speed like an Apache helicopter and it sends its vibration through the fifteen year old paper wall. In the winter, you will be gauranteed to be waken up every half hour at night when the heater turns on. By the way, you might want to ask your neighbours to stop using the bathroom at night because the bathroom fan shakes your wall and floor like earthquakes.
One nice thing if you don't have friends, you will never feel alone in the apartment. You might find it entertaining to hear what all of your neighbours do every night.

As for the appliances, there are more fun! I quit using the 10 yr old dish washer two days after I moved in. Hold your breath before opening the dish washer! Be prepare! It is much harder to clean the dishes after they came out of the dish washer. Do you want to hear more about the stove'!
