Don't be fooled by the "model" apt they show you!

The actual apts are pretty nasty compared to the model they show you! I called them and they said they had a "weekend special" for $699 for a 1 Bdrm that usually rents for $835/mo - but the special was only good for the weekend. Sounded like a great deal, I viewed the model and wrote the deposit check. But on the way out I decided to walk over to "my apt" and peeked in the window. It was empty and dark. There were bushes growing in front of all the windows, so there was no light - unlike the model they show. I could see that the apt wasn't nearly as 'appealing' as it seemed in the model, and was probably only worth $650/mo. I went back to the office and asked to actually view my apt, since it was empty. They refused. It seems to be against their policy to show you the apt. before its ready (i.e. before your moving day, at which point its too late and you are stuck in the lease). Its just my guess, but I doubt they would rent so easily if they actually show the apt you'll be in. The deck above my unit looked like it was going to fall off, and the mold was growing 2 feet up the outside of the patio. I immediately cancelled my application and they handed me my check back, so it only cost me the $35 application fee to learn a valuable lesson - don't rent an apartment until/unless they let you actually see the one you will be living in. If you are tempted by their model apt (furnished with gorgeous furniture and with lots of light) or their very nice 'club house area', do yourself a favor and walk through the complex and around the buildings and you'll see that they are old (23 yrs) and not worth the price they are asking. You can find something much nicer, without mold, for $700 (1 Bd). I think they're refusal to show anything but their models and rent to you "sight unseen" is a reflection of the poor quality and condition of these apts! Good luck hunting, I found something much nicer and newer, with W/D in unit (not in moldy patio outside) for $675/mo. Its crazy anybody would ever pay $835 for these, but they said on phone that the prices change everyday - ' what' its just a high pressure sales tactic! Don't fall for it!
