Money money money!

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2006
We were originally in a ground unit, but poor drainage caused flooding and subsequent mold in the apartment. We were moved to a second floor unit at a discount. The office staff was helpful and they paid for our move. Several owners and countless staff shifts later, our rent increased from $750/month to $1080/month (with one month's notice - not enough time to find another place to live). A month after that, we were told that we'll have to move out at the end of our lease, but we have the option to move into a newly-renovated (i.e.: much more expensive) unit. Coincidentally, that notification went out just days after Microsoft announced a major hiring drive. Daily construction has been ongoing for more than a year. The landscapers also make the rounds with their leafblowers at least five days a week, yet the grass and flowers are dead and trees are being torn down throughout the complex. Car thieves have been targeting the parking lot on a fairly regular basis...one neighbor's car has been stolen from the lot twice. The current staff enters our apartment for "maintenence" (although nothing ever seems to be done) at least once every six weeks - and almost never when scheduled. With all that interest in our units, you'd think the staff would at least recognize our faces, but they don't seem to know us, or they simply don't care. Their main concern seems to be getting the current residents out so they can find new suckers to pay the higher rent.
