Poor staff, Old, Over-priced

This place still gives me the shudders.

It has been about a year since I moved out of this place and have lived a couple of place since. And Avalon Redmond still ranks as the worst places I have lived in -- made so by the horrible people in the office. Now read on to the rest of the review I wrote about a year ago soon after I moved out.

Negatives:
1. The apartment staff is really poor. They are absolutely irresponsible and clueless about their job. (For example, when the utilities company wanted the apt office to call them to confirm the change of tenants, they took 3 months to do that after weekly reminders.)
2. The apartments themselves are poorly designed. I live in their best floor plan. So much for it.
3. Poor heating running up my electricity bills to over $150.
4. Tiny shower stall. One can't take a shower without banging the elbows on the walls.
5. The kitchen exhaust fan just takes the fumes and throws it right back at you. There is no chimney vent to get the fumes out of the apartment. I wonder why they even have it.
6. Walls are poorly insulated.
7. Second parking spot is difficult to find unless you are willing to pay for it.
8. Exorbitant rents. The rent goes up from 1305 to 1505 this year's renewal for my 2/2 without any logical reason. I can accept 3-5% increase but outright 15% increase is unreasonable. I'm outta here.
9. Washer/ Dryer is out on the patio. A nice idea for the cold and rainy weather. Greedy idiots.

I'm really mad at how big real-estate companies like Avalon and Archstone buy cheap apartment complexes in hot locations, do a shoddy renovation and try to rent them out for twice their worth. This has a really bad ripple effect. The rents go up in general around the neighborhood even for poorer apartments.

Positives:
1. It is next door to Microsoft.
