Lived at this complex for 4 years-started when it was still Ravenswood at the Park, then Avalon Redmond and very recently Onyx Redmond. We moved several times between apartments and had a fairly good experience over the last 4 years-until Onyx and the Riverstone/HSC Residential Group took ownership in July 2008. We bought a house and were moving at the end of August-we submitted our move out request in July and explained we would pay through the end of our lease (October 6, 2008). I did the move out inspection on the last day of our lease and turned in our keys. The maintenance person who did the move out said the apartment looked great and that we would likely get all of our deposit back. Mind you-he had no paperwork with him at all and filled nothing out during the walk through. A few weeks later I get a bill saying that we owe over $300-which is confusing because their invoice actually shows that they owe us about $800. WTF''''!!! I called the number for their corporate office and inquired-they stated they didn't have my file and would have to get it to review the invoice. How do you send a bill and not have a copy of the documentation''' I finally received a call back a few days later and was told that they did make an error and we actually owed more than that-but they were going to do the right thing and only make us pay the original amount of $300 . I asked why and wanted a very detailed billing. They said they were charging us for a garage and that we did not pay the prorated rent from October 1-October 6. I explained that our lease with Avalon shows that we were getting the garage free of charge for the duration of the lease and that I did pay the prorated rent when I submitted the rent payment in September. He then said he would check to see if I was correct and would get back to me. I then called the community directly and spoke to a manager. He had access to my file and concurred that they had made a billing error and he would personally get me a corrected billing. I called the next day with my fax number and did not receive anything until 3 weeks later when we received a "corrected" bill. I was livid-though the balance seemed accurate. I feel that they were being shady and if I didn't call them on that first bill and simply paid it, they would have gladly kept the $300 and been done with it. Ten days after we received the corrected bill, they called and asked if I had received the bill and if I was sending in the payment. I explained that I was still upset-but they would get their $45 (which is how much I said I owed anyway).
We were charged for light cleaning, carpet cleaning (the carpet had dark black spots all over it from the time we moved in and needed to be replaced, 4 drip pans for the stove, and the utility bill (I tried to pay the utility bill prior but the company would not allow it since we had moved out). The only "break" we got was that we didn't have to pay for paint since we lived there for 2 years-gee thanks! I feel that we were completely scammed and I am forwarding a formal complaint to several agencies for their review of this as well.
Do not move in to this apartment-you will not be given good customer service and you will be repeatedly lied to by this company.

I would definitely not recommend The Onyx.I stayed for 1 year.I had no problem with the apartment but the leasing office people are atrocious.I keep on moving a lot and so i change my apartment every once in 2 yrs. These are the most rude and non cooperating people i have ever met.I wanted to continue my lease but it is just not worth it.They sent me an offer saying they wont increase the rent on my apartment when the current rate has dropped down atleast $400.I left the house totally clean and had a person come and inspect it.He said it looks absolutely in good condition and they will just need to paint and clean the carpet. And Oh my!!!They did not return any deposit and over that they overcharged me.I would strongly suggest to not to got for this apartment unless you are ready to pay a huge amount for no reason in the end.

One of the worst apartment communities i have ever stayed.I moved from Seattle downtown to reduce my commute and signed a lease with these guys. And since the time i moved in ,i had a problem every now and then.My car's tires had nails poked in them twice. And telling them about it made no difference.Their reply was ,We cant do anything about it .During the Winter months i paid $250 each month for the heater which i did not use a lot(It use to make lot of noise on starting).Afer making complains about the heater every week, they did not repair the heater because they could not figure out the problem. Finally,i had to completely stop using the heater and buy a new one from Target.
I finally left the place transferring my lease as i could not stay there any longer.
The apartment office people try to act really smart by welcoming you nicely and showing you around.
And as soon as you sign up,you are screwed.
I would not recommend this apartment to anyone.
