Avalon at Bear Creek formerly Verandas at Bear Creek

I have lived here for just over two years and I like it, though the price can be a little hard to swallow...
The good: The grounds are attractive and well maintained, the apartments are spacious, clean and updated, the maintenance staff responds quickly to problems and the office staff is pleasant enough. The apartment complex as a whole is quite quiet and feels safe. You never really hear your neighbors, some of the units have a nice enough view of the mountains, top floor units have vaulted ceilings, most units have fireplaces and ceiling fans. The complex also has an ok gym and a nice outdoor pool for the warmer months. We have easy access to 520 and downtown Redmond. There is a PCC a short walk from the complex, along with a Starbucks, a Subway and a teriyaki place. We are also right across the street from a park with many walking trails.
The not so good: The apartments are a little bit cheap and some are certainly much less desirable than others. The complex backs to an elementary school and fronts to Avondale road, if your unit is right next to either of these it can be a little bit noisy (at recess if you are next to the school). There are also some pretty large power lines toward one end of the property, some of the units are a little too close to these for my comfort. The management just changed so I can't vouch for the new employees. Parking can sometimes be a little difficult as they only calculate enough spaces for one car per unit and the spaces are first come first serve, unless you pay for a covered space or garage.
The biggest problem: As I said before, the price. I consider the community and units to be more or less worth it, but they do not come cheap and the rent keeps going up with every renewal...
