Going downhill at Archstone Redmond Campus

We lived at this complex for well over ten years, first in a two-bedroom/two-bath apartment, then in a three bedroom/two bedroom apartment. The rents were always n the expensive side but we managed to justify ithem because of the amenities, customer/maintenance service, and the beauty of the place, as noted in other reviews. We left because we noticed a definite downturn in the grounds and building maintenance, and were disappointed with a level of indifferent arrogance about raising rents exhorbitantly without providing a comensurate level of even continuing service. We have driven by the complex since we moved, and have noted no improvement. As examples: We noted the shrubs, which heretofore had been trimmed by hand, were crudely cut by some kind of chain saw, leaving the leaves and shrubs in poor and ugly condition. There were fewer and fewer flowers planted throughout the complex. On numerous occasions and over the course of our last year there, we brought to the attention of the office and maintenance staff significant damage to various buildings on the complex, in particular the gymasium (such as sidewall and roof damage) with no repairs being done; similarly, the drainage and poor watering/irrigation systems created often muddy sidewalks and flooding in places. The impression given was, if the damaged areas were not in a major traffic area where prospective tenants could see them, then they were not important enough to repair even for those of us tenants who had to look at them every day. The appliances within the apartments were outdated and tired-looking, particularly the refrigerators and dishwashers. There was black 'goop' around the inside windows of our last apartment which we were assured was 'normal' and not mold (it was unsightly though). In short, a place we were proud to call home became one to which we were embarassed to invite our friends and relations. We felt it was definitely not worth the cost!
