I currently live at this complex and my lease is up in the next month. I mostly enjoyed the apartments. The maintenance is fast and good and the staff typically resolves issues right away.........
I gave my written notice and everything seemed fine.... Then I got a notice on my door about a "new policy" about carpet cleaning. I have to provide a professional receipt that I had the carpets cleaned or I will be billed. Obviously I will clean the carpets but WHY should I have to professionally clean them' I never agreed to this in my lease NOR is it in their Move Out Procedure (Resident Directory - available on their website).
I ALSO addressed that if the carpet wasn't "clean" enough and they still wanted it professionally done... couldn't they use my $300 pet deposit for that (it is non-refundable). TYPICALLY a non-refundable pet deposit goes towards cleaning carpets and such for the reasonable "wear and tear"....... The apartment told me it couldn't go towards that because technically the non-refundable deposit is a "pet fee".... A fee JUST TO HAVE MY PET THERE. I've been paying a pet rent as well. SO overall about $600 in pet "fees" and non of it goes to anything except having a pet.
So if you have a pet... watch out. They just want to pocket a $300 fee to have a pet there.
