In our initial walk-through on our first day here, it was noted (at least I thought) that a closet door in one room was broken (split wood), a piece to a window in the living room was missing, and the balcony had a strange hardened yellowy goo all over it (someone decided to egg the balcony before we moved in) NOT ONE of these problems was fixed--and it better not come out of our deposit.
Our lease is up this month and thank goodness for that. This place was not well planned out, construction-wise, garbage-wise, and especially with the parking situation. We have a three bedroom apartment, and we each have our own car. We dont even have one guaranteed parking spot, even though we probably pay about the highest rent here. There is never parking, and when I get home from work at midnight, I have to park very far away, and walk to my apartment. I do not feel safe doing so. There are car break-ins, my roommates car got everything stolen from her car, and after that we were told that there is at least one break in a week. My car was also hit and dented in this parking lot. It is a surprise that the "secured access" gate has been working, because for most of the year, it had been open, due to shoddy electrical work, and the computer being stolen from the main building (which worries me about what information was stored on that hard drive- all the tenants').
People leave their garbage bags outside of their apartments and on their cars, which is just not tasteful, but considering the only garbage area is at the entrance, it isnt convenient to just take out the trash when necessary. You will inevitably have to bring your garbage out in your car, and yes it is Renton, but not all of us have trucks.
There are many cracks in the ceiling, most likely the beginnings of leaks. The bathrooms are the only rooms with the final coat of paint that is necessary to protect the walls. Every other wall in the apartment crumbles, stains, or dents with the slightest brush.
We have also had some issues with the staff not returning our calls when we have had questions. I also didnt receive a package until a month after it arrived, because someone on the staff signed for it, without leaving me a notice. I just recently went in there to check if for some reason my package had arrived, and it was being stored in the back room.
I would say the parking issue is the worst, it has been a total nightmare. It just doesnt make sense that at least one free guaranteed spot comes with an apartment of any number of bedrooms, let alone three. More than half of the carport spaces are empty and not being used at all, but no one is allowed to use them unless they pay extra. So instead of taking the carport spaces and risking having an owner of the space get angry, many people think that handicapped parking is also for them. I havent seen any car get a ticket for unlawfully parking in a handicapped space.
Only one or two members of the staff/apartment management are friendly. Although I always have a smile on my face when I drive/walk by an aparment employee, most of them seem to glare, if not at me, at the fact that they dont like to work here.
I liked the openness of the apartments. Thats about it.
