Benson Downs Apartments

Tenant Beware From: tenant11100 Date posted: 7/2/2006 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006   Benson Downs advertises itself as A Place to Call Home. I live here, so this is my home. As many other residents posted, the complex looks great. It sits back from the main road & offers a peaceful setting away from the hubbub of life. Units are beautifully designed with walk-in closets, storage space & are clean when you move in. Grounds have a beautiful, inviting, groomed appearance & well maintained. There are nice little touches everywhere. A cabana atmosphere, a hot tub, workout room, a coffee machine, a popcorn machine, cookies, a daily newspaper. The Community Manager & Assistant Manager were accommodating & friendly. They & their office staff wooed & wowed me. GET THEM TO SIGN A LEASE. GET THEIR MONEY. FORGET ABOUT THE REST. That seems to be their motto. Check out www.simpsonpropertygroup.com & read what youre supposed to get & expect. Benson Downs is the antithesis of the mission statement & credo. Benson Downs comes at a high price & delivers less than you pay for. If rent were less than what I pay it would be fine & my expectations would be lowered. Maintenance staff is great, but their hands are tied by the Manager who pinches pennies on small repairs & amenities, and lets things go until it is an out-of-control problem. Leasing agents are lackeys that come & go. They are basically useless & unavailable & uninformed. Rules & terms of lease & tenancy are random & inconsistent. The Manager shows bias against individuals who speak up & against teenagers & minorities. Minor infractions by adults & Caucasians are overlooked, but teenagers & minorities are singled out. This is Equal Opportunity Housing & there is a sign in the front office, so you can get an apartment here. Youll see performance & achievement awards in the Managers & Assistant Managers office. It seems they manage the bottom line for Simpson Property Group. After all money is money & the Manager pursues it any way she can. And its at the expense of customer & tenant services. Why do I still live here' Im laying low until my lease expires. And the location works for me. Also the setting is serene which I need in my hectic work schedule & busy life.
