NEVER, EVER SIGN A LEASE @ BENSON DOWNS. If you've already made that mistake you may want to look up washington state Landlord Tenant laws to cover your butt. and take a look @ your lease and keep a record of EVERY payment made to them; especially if you have made a "pet deposit" i won't go into further detail, but just be prepared to recieve a notice from collections for all "unpaid rent", "unpaid pet deposit", etc. and don't ever try to contact the manager for clarification to charges on your apartment because you will get no response. Living @ Benson Downs was one headache after another. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Same thing happened to me upon moving out a year ago. they sent me a bill after I did the walk through and asked if everything was ok and they said I owed them over $300 and that if I didn't pay that I was going to be sent to collections.

Prior to moving out of Benson Downs Apts. Kathy and my family were on first name basis, as my husband had worked a short time for Benson Downs. We moved from Benson Downs October 2004. I cleaned everything except the carpet-(which is to be included in the non-refundable portion of the deposit) and a few small items in the kitchen (no big deal) so I thought. Around November 15th, or 16th I we had not received notice from Benson Downs regarding the refundable portion of the deposit. In late December 2004, there was call to my personal cell phone from a collection agency regarding payment due. Mind you the collection agency was at my son's throat demading payment, my son informed the caller I think you want to speak to my mom. Upon introducing myself, they were the sharks there meant to be. I informed them that I had not received a notice and to please forward the charges to me. We were on a month to month lease and Kathy would frequently ask if we had found a place and did we plan on re-newing our lease. Mind you there were a total of 8 people living in a 3 bedroom apts-rather cramped wouldn't you think-the reason to move out and rent a house, since we could not afford to purchase. Well when the time came I gave me notice in a timely manner 20 days. Kathy amazed me as she displayed this caring, concerned demeanor. As the conversation went on. Kathy asked where would we be moving-mind you again I was going to give that information because we anticipated a refund. Never received that. Kathy wanted to know all about the house were moving to in Fairwood, silly me I told her about it not thing much more. And the kicker-I informed Kathy of the small things that I did not get around to finish cleaning in the kitche. Kathy verbally stated to me; "Oh -------, don't worry you always have a nice clean house, you don't have to worry about a thing. KATHY THE LIER-lied. And sent this enormous $800.00 bill to collections, by the time I got around to receiving all the alleged paper work on my old unit, and trying to make a payment agreement, which the collection agency would not agree to, the collection agency had brought on an attorney and threatening to garnish my wages. Well out of fear, I had to borrow the money, but little did I not know the collection fee had doubled. So when I finally made my only payment to the collection agency I ended up paying I believe we paid $1,500.00 or $1,600.00 -the fee had doubled. And now my name is on a Safe Rent Notice to any apartment complexes so I have to pay double or triple the deposit. And to top matters off- I just moved back to Benson Downs to a very filthy unit, I am still cleaning pet hair, and cleaning what the cleaning staff did not clean. And to make matters worse one of the Maintenance employees informed my husband the person that lived in the unit prior to us was very filthy, The Benson Downs staff could not see the floor, because it was covered with so much mess.

After all that why in the world would you move back to Benson Downs? Just curious as my lease will be coming to an end shortly so I've been caught up before from apt complexes trying to get money from people..

in response to the review you put on What collection Agency was it. Was it Rent Collect. I am also curious as to why you moved back to this complex.
