I have to believe that some who have "reviewed" Marina Landing must have had some "personal" problems with them. I've been here nearly six years and plan to stay. I started in a one bedroom and last year (2007) upgraded to a newly-remodeled two bedroom, one bath and I couldn't be happier. I've looked at other offerings in the area (living near Coulon Park was a conscious decision) and for the money, Marina Landing is superior in every way. It's not the newest complex in the area but they've just completed remodeling every apartment, have resurfaced the parking areas, and replaced the carports. They have a clean, well kept swimming pool, hot tub, and exercise room (all of which I have used) and a tanning bed (which I have not). The clubhouse is comfortable and the daily newspaper can always be found there (I frequently go down to read the paper or watch TV - and yes, I could watch it in my apartment but I enjoy the openness of the clubhouse). I know that pets of all varieties are welcomed but I believe there are restrictions on certain breeds of dogs (I don't *know* this to be true). I have a small dog and I know another resident who has a VERY (VERY!) LARGE dog so I'm pretty sure there are no restrictions on size. A pet deposit is required (as one would expect). My apartment is comfortable and on the ground level. I live in one of the buildings farthest from Lake Washington Blvd. and it's as quiet as I could want. I never hear traffic noise and sirens are so infrequent that I notice immediately when I hear one. Because Marina Landing is an older community, the landscaping is more mature (trees, shrubs, etc.) and it makes a huge difference in the summer with the west-facing apartments. The trees diffuse the sunlight and help keep the indoor temperatures comfortable (again, speaking from a ground-floor perspective). The flooring in the entryway and kitchen resembles wood. The bathroom has a slate appearance. Both are very attractive. The washer and dryer are full-sized and new. The range in the kitchen is electric and, while not state-of-the-art, includes a self-cleaning oven, and electronic timers (general use, timed start, and timed cooking). The water heater is full-sized and electric as well. As for the staff, I have always found them to be very friendly and eager to make my stay here as pleasant as possible. (I could give many examples of outstanding service and name names). Let me say that on an occasion or two, the manager has waived a fee/deposit that she had every reasonable right to collect. When an apartment above mine burst a washer hose and water began trickling in through the ceiling in my kitchen, the maintenance guy on site was here in under two minutes (Really - I looked at my watch!) to get it shut off. The maintenance guys have even replaced light bulbs for me (and brought the bulbs with them - no charge!) Sliding door a little out of kilter' They've fixed it. Locks a little sticky' Fixed. The neighbors getting a little loud in the evening' The office staff will make the call. No problem. And speaking of my neighbors, while I don't know all of them, I do know many by name and they're great. I've met several of them at the clubhouse and at community events (pizza provided by Marina Landing & Garlic Jim's). The property is patrolled at night by a private security firm but if you want to talk about security, I have to tell you, when another resident parks his POLICE CRUISER in front of the clubhouse in the evenings, if I'm a bad guy, when I see that, I'm just gonna mosey on up the road a ways. But back to the office staff. I'll admit that I've had a problem or two but they've been problems of my own making. It's wasn't their fault when I didn't get my rent check in by the deadline, and when I made it right they were totally cool. I paid the penalty and drove on. (The fee I mentioned above that was waived, was substantially more than a late rent check would incur.) The manager, assistant manager, and leasing consultants are all great. Heck, I've even baked and brought them brownies on occasion. The down side' Well, to be fair and objective, there are a few "problem areas." The biggest one that comes to mind is no A/C. Now I'm from the midwest and when it gets hot, it gets really hot. In the summer, air conditioning is a must. But I'm not in the midwest and many (most') apartements don't have A/C. I've learned to "manage" the temperature in my apartment on the few days of the year that the temperature goes through the roof. Every year I contemplate buying a portable air conditioner but it's never hot enough, long enough, for me to follow through. Another problem that was had was the carport replacement (I mentioned above). While the result is excellent, getting to the result was "painful." Planning (lack of planning, really) by the owners of the development resulted in the entire project taking many months to complete. Much longer than it should have. Another quirk that gets under my skin a bit: They've got a really nice gas grill for residents to use, but to use it you need to pay a deposit. Now this deposit is just a check that they're never going to cash and that you're going to get back the next day, but the whole thing just seems a little cheesy to me. I used the grill when it was new and pristine and I made a point of explaining to the staff how to keep it that way but, alas, the last time I looked at it I was a bit dismayed. (Makes me wonder why they didn't get the other residents who used the grill to clean it properly before returning their deposit.) So that's it. The good (and lots of it) and the bad (not so much). I'm very happy here and plan to stay. The newer developments nearby are well within my budget but I have no doubt that they wouldn't make me feel like I was home.
Edit: In reading other reviews I haven't come across a single one that wasn't posted anonymously. I've deliberately included my email address and I am happy to answer any questions about my review or my stay at Marina Landing. It's easy to cast aspersions when you're not willing to own up to them. I am a resident. I am not, nor have I ever had any relationship with Marina Landing or its staff other than that of a landlord/tenant.

You sound like you could be Callie or Jo. Please don't listen to this Yuppie. He's one in a million.

Nope. Not either of the above, and unlike you I've left a real email address. I'm happy to answer any questions and meet in person. You? Oh, right. Anonymous.
