New and disappointed

I've been with this complex for a little over 2 months now and at first, I was pleased I'd found a good place to relax after a long days work. But after being here and opening my eyes and being objective, not bitchy, I know I was duped. I like to walk in the evenings to unwind and was assured this was a nice place for that, but I don't believe management has a clue what really goes on in their complex after they leave their safe little offices.

There is a SERIOUS drug and alcohol problem at the north end of the complex; a very serious teen vandalism problem throughout the entire place and a dangerously serious problem with the stairwells and balconies literally falling down around the tenants.

Maintenance kind of speaks english - if the forgetful office staff remembers to actually put your work request into the system for processing. I've been lied to by both the manager and the assistant manager, Jill - and caught them both in flat out lies to my face. I pity them for being so stupid that they believe they can lie to me and I won't remember.

There IS trash everywhere and worse, it's the tenants fault that they don't care for their homes better. Many porches have 4-6 large bags of garbage sitting on their balconies and again, management doesn't have a clue. Flies gather and then you can see maggots there. It's filthy.

Parking is more than difficult, it's a nightmare. Again, management hasn't a clue that some of their units have from 2-6 adults in them. And most of these adults have their own transportation. Do the math - there aren't enough spots.

I'm an investigative reporter part time as well as have a full time job and like to have peace and quiet at night, but this isn't the place for that. I've taken pictures and will be doing a large spread on this unit and several others with bad profiles for the paper I work for and hope my editor likes the contrast between a good complex and one of these.

I should have done better research before signing a lease, so I only blame myself. But I won't be fooled again. I really feel sorry for the office staff because I don't think they realize how badly their lies reflect on them and people as well as professionals.
