Post-mortem Rent Review

Years at this apartment: 2005-01-01 - 2008-01-01
I just ended my 3 years of renting at Boulder Creek and I wanted to give a candid and dispassionate review of my time there. I know most people vent at the frustrations of apartment life in these posts, and I understand and share the frustrations, but to aid people in making a reasonable and educated decision on what apartments to live in, I will do my best to give a honest and objective review.
I will start with the bad items first.
(1) It's expensive to live here, but that is to be expected since it is in the Sammamish/Issaquah area. Don't expect them to offer discounts, deals, or come off their stated price. When I say expensive, I mean one of the most expensive in the area. But see item (1) below.
(2) The garbage situation was bad. There would be trash piled up near the front entrance. This persisted for about a year and half. Recently, the situation seems to have corrected itself.
(3) Parking is fairly bad, unless you have a townhouse unit with a garage. There are really no places for guests to park. If you have a two bedroom unit, then you only get one parking space.
(4) If it snows, forget about driving up the hill. The plateau is good for at least one snow day.
Now the good items.
(1) To be honest, this is a great place to live. Good construction, great location, and nice views. You get what you pay for and this is one of the best apartment complexes out there.
(2) The management went from great to bad to good again. I feel like that the tenants have a big say on how the place is run since it is a luxury apartment complex. The management is very friendly and seek to make it a community. There was only one hiccup in the three years I was there. The maintenance staff is outstanding. I had two problems when I was there and both were solved promptly and professionally.
(3) The apartments are very well done. I liked the space of the two bedrooms; the quality of appliances used; and the little things like the cabinets, the faucets, the trim, the big windows. The small things really matter to me.
(4) The neighborhood is generally quiet. Most of the people are Microsoft types; young professionals; or older people. Most people are respectful, friendly, and courteous. I never had a problem with my neighbors, although, as mentioned in a different post, there was a person with a loud car stereo. I believe that person is gone now or informed of his/her lack of courtesy/maturity.
Verdict. I would live here again, if I'm in need of an apartment in the area.
