I lived here for 2 years before I moved out two months ago. It used to be pretty good. But there has been a management company change in 2005, and that's when it started to go downhill.
To be fair, it's a pretty nice location to live. Bit noisy, but that's part of Belltown life.
New management is extremely disorganized. You should keep copies of all the paper works. After they decided to raise the rent by $125/month, I decided to move out. I gave 30 day written notice and everything. I received the move out statement saying I owe them $2400 since I didn't give them a notice until the day of moving out. Of course, I called them to check what happened, and apparently they don't have any evidence that I gave them a written notice. Thank God that I had a copy of my written notice with assistant manager's signature on it. I'm not too happy with outrageous cleaning-related charges, but compared to 1.6 month rent, that seems like a minor problem.
After a few weeks of "figuring out," the new move out balance includes 1/3 month of rent and utility, which I paid. (and checks were cashed of course) I had to go through another re-adjustment. 2 months after moving out, my account is finally closed. (and of course, I went to the office and received the receipt)
KEEP COPIES OF ALL THE PAPERWORK!!!
