A decent first apartment

I moved in here from home with my boyfriend (now husband) who had lived here for a few years before me.
In the 9 months I lived there, I had a number of issues, almost all of which were resolved in a timely manner. Garbage disposal problems, electricity problems, etc. It's a relatively old building so things happen. At one point, someone's garbage disposal ended up in my bathtub (seriously!) and the manager was REALLY great about helping me. She got a plumber out ASAP and even got my carpets cleaned.
I had a lot of issues with the heating in my unit not working, which I got charged for anyway because the bill is just kindof split between the tenants if I remember correctly, as is the garbage. I never had any real problems with it.
The apartment itself was decent. It has a lot of nice big windows, and the other residents are friendly. It also has a nice little secluded bench in the back of the building, which is nice for peaceful sits.
There is plenty of reserved parking for tenants (we were lucky enough to have a great covered spot) that you pay for on a monthly basis. However, if you aren't lucky enough to have a parking spot on-site, parking in the area will be a giant hassle.
If you are into cooking, or eating at home on a regular basis, this apartment isn't the best choice. No dishwasher, a one-compartment sink, minimum counter and cabinet space, and no sprayer for the sink.
Also, if you plan on living here, you should at the very least be able to tolerate A LOT of music. It's directly across the street from Cornish College's music building, and we could hear them playing all day long.
Overall, the rent is a good value for the area, and I couldn't have asked for a better location in the city.
