I think that Seattle in general has gotten very full of itself when it comes to real estate. These overpriced apartments, so-called "green buildings" are no different. The buildings may be "green," but it certainly hasn't changed the people from acting any more environment friendly. As you walk around the neighborhood you see dog crap everywhere, especially in the fall when the rain comes. And in the winter some of the tenants even let their dogs urinate in the stairwells. So much so, they had to rip up the carpet and put down tile. We have a shared patio with a neighbor who just lets his dog take a dump anywhere, which is usually underneath our bedroom window. But enough about dogs, let's move on to the construction. We were never told that there was a trolley station being built directly behind our building when we signed our lease. The ------------- start as early as 5am, and work as late as 11pm. And on top of that, there is a recording studio directly behind the building as well. Even with the doors to the studio closed, you can hear the crappy ass rap music blasting at night. Oh, and let's not forget the parking. You would think that for $75 a month they could manage to keep the ------- alley unblocked. There are times that both ends of the parking exit are blocked either by delivery trucks, or construction. This has been the worst living situation I have ever been in. Do yourself a favor and avoid Alcyone. If possible, avoid South Lake Union altogether, at least until 2009 when the construction is done.

I currently live at Alcyone. I have found my experiance to be great. The area is up and coming for sure. They fully informed me of the trolly car maintenance facitlity, how you could not notice the construction is beyond me and it is near completion. They have never started at 5am and I have been here since before they started the construction. I think this person is just one that just cant be pleased.

I live at the alcyone too, and have had similar bad issues. Mainly, the music studio on the alley side makes this place unlivable. The building was not built with ventilation, so it gets extremely hot in the summer. As for the constuction, it's done now, but I had to live thru it, and no, the leasing agent did not tell me about it when I moved in which was about a month before the construction started. When I have complained about noise, they tell me it's my job to call the police when the music studio gets too loud. Frankly, for the amount of rent I pay, I should think I could live somewhere that I'm not required to call the police every weekend. I do not recommend this place.
