When I viewed this apartment, I was absolutely thrilled with the view! And that really was the best quality about the place. The walls are paper-thin; I could hear my upstairs neighbor talking on the phone when I was laying in bed at night. And not just the sound of conversation - I could hear all the words!
I also had the "pleasure" of living next to the builing manager. The owner did not tell us that the manager lived in the apartment next door until after we moved in, and because the place was so noisy, the manager himself would file "noise complaints" on us for the same types of noises we heard around the building all the time!
Once when our shower drain was clogged, they wanted us to pay for a plummer to come out. Since we had only lived there 6 months, I knew that the clog was more than likely the result of numerous previous renters, so I just dealt with a slow-draining pipe. When we moved out, they nickel-and-dimed us on the deposit, citing things that I believed were wholly inaccurate.
It is an affordable way to live in a place with a view, but the number of drawbacks forced me to leave in the end.
