I find the previous review review a bit puzzling because many of the criticisms are contradictory. It sounds to me like someone who tends to assume the grass is always greener somewhere else.
While the retail space on the ground floor is indeed vacant, there is a small market around the corner and several restaurants and shops within about 2 short blocks. While the other big complexes in the neighborhood, The Carins, Alcyone, and Alley 24 all have bars/restaurants on their ground floor, those residents also have to deal with all the noise, people smoking outside their windows, and parking issues related to those establishments. I for one would rather walk a block and a half than live right above a popular bar. I think the problem with Amli's retail space is that it's too big for either a restaurant or a neighborhood market. I would be careful what I wish for.
As for the low income unit, it's for retired people. The "juvenile hall" you refer to is simply an office and no delinquents are housed there. The abandoned houses are indeed an eyesore, but I doubt they won't be around for long considering all the development in the area.
That's another thing, this is a very up and coming neighborhood, and there is a lot of construction going on and will continue for the next several years. Thus, it is not the quietist place to live but it does have the advantage of being relatively quiet at night unlike some other residential downtown communities such as Belltown. The double pane windows do a decent job of insulating against the city noises. I think it's a decent compromise for being so close to everything.
I rent P1, and have had no issues finding parking at any time of day. If you prefer assigned parking, you can always rent P2 for the same price. Frankly, I prefer having the option to park wherever and also occasionally let guests park there which the building allows.
The java cafe and business center are nice amenities, but I prefer to make my own coffee and use my own computer and printer in my apartment. It seems to me that these amenities mostly cater to short term residents.
My biggest complaint about this place is not the building or it's management, but many of the slobbish residents. Some people like to throw large get togethers on the roof and then leave a mess. I assume these are also the people who let their dogs crap on the hallway or leave bulky items in the trash room for someone else to deal with. I have found the management to be extremely responsive and helpful to all of my requests. For such a large building, I the service is amazingly personal.
The appliance and fixtures are all brand new and the maple wood decor is way more attractive than what you find in comparable places. The insulation is also above average, and even though I'm in a west facing apartment on the 6th floor, it never gets terribly hot even when it's over 80 degrees outside. The corridors are also well ventilated.
As for the rooftop deck, the 360 views are mind boggling and there is plenty of seating. I don't see how the gas fireplace is such a fire hazard considering it is outdoors and has an electronic safety control.
All my friends are jealous that I live here.
Update: The abandoned houses next door have been demolished, and it seems as if the wild rooftop parties have ceased. Kudos to the management!

Interesting. If you think I work here who do you suppose I am? One of the two leasing guys? The building manager? Perhaps I'm the janitor lady who has to clean up the mess when people throw a party on the roof and invite all there ghetto ass friends. Most of the people who live here are cool, but there are a few who think the entire building is there's to do with as they please and leave there trash everywhere. I really wish the management would crack down on these folks and evict them rather than threaten to close the roof deck down at night because some people can't clean up after themselves. I also wish they would harass the people who smoke cigars on their first floor deck which can be smelt by those on the roof. The problem with such a large place is that it's difficult to police all the tenants 24/7.
Oh, and the grass on the roof isn't fake, it's real grass and is watered regularly. Perhaps it might seem fishy that I know so much about grass, or on the other hand perhaps I just not a complete idiot.

No one is calling you an idiot. We have our differences about this place, you think its a great place to live, while I don't. I do like the new appliances, hardwood floors, and overall color scheme of the apartment, but I just think the leasing agents are rude and fake and the my neighbors are spoiled rich college students who never had to work a day in their lives. And thats why they expect everyone else to clean up after them. And I do not believe that the Pet Turf is real. Theres no way that is real, it would not stay the same green color all over especially where the crap isn't picked up, and you can see the little white flowers in the garden areas turning brown from the piss, so I have a hard time believing that they would water the pet turf more than they would water the garden areas. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, The grass NEVER grows! And I never see any one cutting it. Anyways I hope you enjoy living here and continue to live here, if you like it so much. By the way don't you think its weird that the leasing agents don't live here? But you probably know more about that than I do.
