My roommates and I went apartment hunting at night. Lesson learned.
If memory serves, the leasing manager's name was Natalie. I do remember with certainty that her last name was Lemon or Lemons. Anyway, she was always a complete pleasure to deal with from day one.
The building itself was really nice. It had great curb appeal and seemed to be well maintained. We never had any problems with the unit. We asked for screens to be placed on all of our windows and that was done within a couple of days.
The only building-related issue we had was that the fire alarm went off... a lot, due to people burning food. Sometimes it went off in the middle of the night. The alarm is so loud that you have to go outside. Unfortunately, the only people who can turn the alarm off is the fire department.
We quickly learned that the children of the area ran rampant around the complex with zero supervision. Fortunately, the walls were pretty thick so we never heard any of our neighbors, however, our front door faced 112th so we were on the very far edge of the property. Although we didn't really hear anyone, we certainly smelled them. A new tenant moved in downstairs shortly after we did. I seriously think there was like 7-10 people living there. The smell of food was TERRIBLE. It wasn't anything like steak or chicken... I have no idea what it was, but the smell was nauseating. We tried opening all the windows to air our apartment out, but it didn't help.
One thing that really stands out in my mind was leaving for work on July 5, 2002. The street was littered with discarded fireworks. I wish I had a picture to post on here of what it looked like, but I just sat there in total disbelief before I reluctantly drove through all that mess.
I also awoke one morning to discover that my car had been broken into, my radio stolen and my CD changer torn out from the trunk. There wasn't any parking left on the property so I had to park out on 112th that night, right outside our front door. After that, I rented a reserved covered parking spot for $25/mo extra.
It's a shame that the tenants/neighbors can bring down a building so badly.

I agree with her. The fire alarm goed off all the time. The kids here are so bad I wont let my own kids outside without me ever. I dont want my kids to be mistakin for any of them.
