Some great things/Some horrible things

First, the good. I love the old people that live there. They are sweet and some of them are accomplished pianists. There is a grand piano in the lobby and it is amazing to hear them play it. The building is literally rock solid. You won't be bothered by your neighbor's thumpin' stereo ( you will be bothered if your neighbor has a dog that likes to bark by its door). For a belltown apartment skyrise, I think that the Wall Street tower has ten times more class and character than the cookie cutter buildings like the McGuire. And the rooftop garden is esquisite. The views are beautiful. The little grocery store is a big convenience. And I liked the washing machines that take a pre-paid card and not quarters. We've never had a maintenance call. Nothing ever broken when we lived in our apartment. Overall I absolutely loved my apartment.
But,like many people have mentioned, the management in this place is a joke. It has been a joke and a disaster since the day we moved in. There is almost constant turn over in management. We signed a pre-lease three years ago. We were told we would move in in January and because of rennovations, we weren't allowed to move in until April. That was the first round of lies that we had to endure from management That's where it all starts. And they lost our lease!! After that we were plagued daily with construction noises. That's all gone away though- even though we were told the construction would be completed before we mvoed in. Second round of lies. Still, it seems like almost weekly, we get a letter shoved under our door that is apologizing for some sort of inconvenience. The "apologizing for the inconveniences" has been a bit of a joke in our house because we get so many of them. The water temps in the shower you cannot control and we had to take off the fixture in our unit to adjust the water temps with a screwdriver. We moved out just a few weeks ago, referred another tennant, and have no confidence we will ever see our promised $500 referral fee. Why, because they said they couldn't find our signed form. Well, because we anticipated their severe incompetence, I'd asked for a photocopy of the form, which I have, so we'll see how it goes. We were told a check would be mailed. Probably the final kick in the ass lie we will get from Wall Street tower's management. I also had my scooter stolen from the secured garage, but the garaged is managed by a separate company, so there is not a lot the building management can do about that.
It's too bad that such a great, historical building is run by such a profoundly idiotic group of dingbats. It deserves better.
