The Wall Street Tower is a very old building in a very nice location. But as great as the location is, it is oddly out of place with the newer and more elegant buildings in the area. The worst part of WST is probably the dirty laundry room. People either leave their clothes in the washer and dryers too long, or take someone else s out a bit too early (1 to 2 minutes after completion) apparently from the expectation that they are just going to leave them there. This is especially annoying if you time your clothes but happen to get held up at the elevator. It is also usually dirty with filth blowing around on the floor, and cemented bleach stuck to the detergent feed. If you have nice clothes, it makes you think twice about possibly ruining then in the poorly maintained laundry room.
The only other true annoyance is the concierge who is more of a gossip hound than a concierge. I once had a question but she told me she is off work and only talks to people when she is on the clock. From the annoying and phony charm she emulates after coming home from a hard day s work, to snooping around the building, I would consider paying a small monthly fee not to see her in the lobby welcoming me every evening. It is more of a supervisory role, redefined by someone checking out who is with whom to making sure people are coming in w/out too much alcohol in them. It is more of an invasion of privacy than a helpful and informative role serving residents. Most of them mind their own business, but the main concierge to which I am referring unfortunately works the most and minds her business the least.
I will be glad to move out of this building. Management was actually pretty cool, and helpful, but between the annoying front desk, the dirty laundry, and the odd smell of the water which has mystified me since I have moved in a year ago, the great location was not enough to save WST from a less than desirable living experience in the heart of a beautiful city. You must be the jerk that was bitching out the Concierge loudly for all to hear as I was walking through the lobby. This building has some issues as do most, but overall for the price and location it is pretty good. The building is older (1950's) and used to be an assisted living home for the elderly, there are a few old timers still living there. The whole place is concrete so you don't get the horrible stomping from upstairs neighbors which is great. The biggest issue we have with the building are the few idiots who have dogs and do not keep them on a leash in common areas and don't pick up after them when they poop in the rose garden. As a fellow dog owner I find this really disrespectful. Also, there seem to be more college age kids moving in which I don't enjoy. The water pressure is not the greatest and sometimes the temperature seems inconsistent. If you own a car this is not a good bilding to live in. All the street parking is 2 hour metered and the garage is small and expensive.

I think the college age kids deserve more of a warmer welcome than that. Belltown isn't the place for old timers or people above 35 anymore. Go live somewhere else if you're not happy. The biggest issue with this place is the horrible water - from the rusty brown spurts of goodness flowing out of my faucets everyday, the searing hot water in the bathroom and lukewarm water in the kitchen, consistent morning showers that are cold, and sounds of the flushing of bodily waste around my apartment, I'll be glad to move out.
