These apartments sell themselves. Excellent area, close to freeway and business district. Condo-quality materials and fixtures, and nice floorplans. Nice views on the back side and very quiet. The street side would be noisy. Extremely energy efficient. Parking garages typical by Seattle standards (cramped)...there has been some problem with car theft and vandalism in the garages. Management installed a silly homemade alarm system in the garages that is more of an annoyance than anything effective. Overall, I liked my apartment a LOT, and the parking situation was tolerable. All of this comes at a very steep price, rent-wise. My main complaint is that the management and ownership take advantage of the tight housing market to shaft the tenants. Clearly the tenants are regarded as just sources of cash, and management's sole concern is to maximize short-term profits. The management is very difficult to get hold of and almost never in the office (the manager has another full-time job). All very friendly and accomodating when you first move in, with no mention of the many rules and restrictions you're told about when it comes time to renew your lease: no month-to-month tenancies allowed (ever), and "blackout periods" (about half the year during the winter months) during which a lease is not allowed to end. Very inflexible, and driven by greed in my opinion. When the building was brand new in 1999, people saw how nice the apartments were and the place filled to capacity VERY quickly. But when the nature of the management became apparent, these first tenants began moving out in droves as their initial leases expired. If you don't mind shelling out the big bucks for rent, and being treated like chattel by the management, the apartments are very nice.
